I agree with the 'portal to them' where they're tamed, I have and that base just becomes, "HogFarm" on my map; whenever I need fresh boar meat, I just portal in and hang out for a day or so...

I don't think alerting _boars_ is such a big problem. They calm down well before they can destroy a stick fence.Wolves on the other hand... they can chew iron bars in no time...

I usually stay in troll gear with bronze weapons until mining iron. The introduction of the new enemy in the swamp makes things more interesting, for sure. Make sure that you have poison resist potion..

I always skip the bronze age and only make a hatchet out of it, but I already know this game and I know what to expect.

Go full troll until root/iron ( and if you get tricky to mine some obsidian in mountains can upgrade to full lvl troll ) , you can bypass bronze

Derivative is the wrong word there for sure. They're part of the same game genre but Valheim's closest to Terraria, and Minecraft is just the most successful, it wasn't the first by any stretch.
