You can absolutely solo the game. It might require the odd look at a guide for some boss strategies but other than that it's really not all that difficult of a game.

An option for bigger oceans that don't feel like crossing lakes would be nice.

The world is already rather huge, even cheats it would take forever to explore and utilize the entire thing. The other biomes will get populated as they develop a game. Next target is the Mistlands.

Scaffold it with other pieces, then swap, as long as the connection is there. But will depend on the structure to some extent.

Yeah, I'm kinda scratching my head as to why you wouldn't place down a portal before you took off. How did you plan on getting back to the Forsaken Stones to change your buff powers?

That is a typical symptom of left over/out of date mod bits. An uninstall just won't remove anything the game did not put in. Not sure if a fairly old installation might have had the same effect.
