Use blunt weapon (mace) since he's weak to blunt damage, use foods that give good health boost, and for the love of Cthulhu use poison resistance mead. Your armor doesn't protect you from poison. Thin..

Blunt weapons, poison resistance, prepare an arena before summoning. Simply maxing your hp and armor is rarely enough to facetank a boss.

If you go the shield route, get used to parrying - When you parry an attack it blocks a lot more of the damage and stuns the trolls, allowing you to do much more damage not only because they are stunn..

Fire arrows are good, but practice timing your dodge roll now. Super useful later on. You take no damage while rolling!
