The optimum time is probably when your buff starts to flash, unfortunately I'm forgetful and if I'm going to die it usually involves my food running out and I've not noticed.

Whatever arrows I find until Poison > Needle > Carapace.I use the Arbalest more than bows now though, considering that I've transitioned entirely into magic, the arbalest is a better fit.

I've read in a few comment threads for a couple of different mods where mod incompatibility causes this issue. OP, do you use any mods?

What do you mean disapears? Sometimes the grave it is just inside an object. if anything is covering the ground where you died try to destroy it until you see ground.

I‘ve targeted my ballistas equally to ticks/seekers/soldiers and gjalls. The other mobs are no issue at all.
