Tower shields can't parry. Medium and buckler shields (and weapons) can. Bucklers are great for parrying, but not as good as medium shields at static blocking.

Depends on aesthetic a player is going for I spose, I've never done it myself but I mean if you wanted to get creative and make a heap of characters named with labels you want for a storage containers..

I think if your a first time player it's not possible to beat the game fast. My fastest has been just over 50 days = 25 hours play time, pre Mistlands, but that was also employing a lot of things lear..
