Anecdotally I have found that If I kill a troll outside a troll cave the cave contains no troll when I explore it.

Once you clear an instance (graves, caves, chambers, etc), they stay clear and don't respawn anything. So you're safe to mark it off as done.

If you hold down shift it will temporarily turn of snapping so you can position it manually. (I think it was shift. I remapped it.)

To be fair object placement in Valheim is far better than in NoMansSky.

As far as I am aware, they are permanently empty; just as Burial Chambers do not respawn Skeletons, Troll Caves do not respawn Trolls.

So, if the Troll has no stamina problem how is it he (assuming gender) drowned?

My feeling is that critters should subject to the same stamina effects as the players.

Stag breaker is definitely worth it. Just reequip the torch before you open the door. If you locate the trader he can sell you something that will help. Or adjust your video settings.
