At least one of us in my play group did this around launch. Waving goodbye to your gear from spawn is the only thing you can do without mods or a console.

In the Swamp dungeons or dig through the swamp and you will sometimes finde some, after you killed the 3th Boss you will be able to detect iron ore in the swamps ground and dig for it

Mud in the swamp dungeons and swamp itself

dig in the swamp. if lucky you will find that same mud that drop iron scrap.

Any other way to find iron other than Swamp Dungeon ?

The commands are no longer available as of the update today. No idea if they intend to do anything with them.

We used noclip to fly around the map on our private server, did not find any iron. So unless it spawns after killing the 2nd boss then it doesnt exist in our world.

Try killing 2nd boss for hint.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I broke the floor up, slightly lowered the dirt and then redid the floor. i couldn't raise the doors because then they wouldn't be correct for other things.
