Hex is a number base, that's a different thing to measurement units. 0xFF is just another way of saying 255.

It almost certainly is metric because these are European programmers. You don't code a physics engine using feet and inches if you can avoid it.

yes. totally viable and possible. transport and building bigger bases will of course take longer solo. but still completly fine since you need less materials for gear aswell solo.

I mostly play solo. Just plan ahead and be methodical. You will die but that is part of the fun. I think the game scales the encounters to make it harder (fact check) when you have friends join.

when building, it can sometimes be necessary to use a piece of wood to create a snapping point for a piece you wanna drop. this method allows you to do lots of crazy things so try it out

You could also do the middle of the building.. I've seen a few homesteads with the hearth or two in the middle and then they just have the chimney that goes all the way up through however many floors ..

Back up your world file just in case. But like all raids if you just kite the enemy away from your stuff, you won't lose much if anything, and if you monster proofed your base, that mostly works too.
