The terrain is ridiculous when you're trying to chop trees and they are on some craggy bluff and the wood falls to god knows where.

Are you sure the game has updated? That's pretty much the placeholder mistlands from before. Even on old worlds there was more than that.

I personally think it's a fun mechanic.

The mist moves, you can see on the map which part of the mistlands is clear. Also the coastal areas are usually without fog
