Built a small house and put a hanging brazier. works well, keeps it warm, and don't have to worry about them running into a fire.

The water maters, in that if you get in the wrong spot and are being attacked, you may fall in without the best way to regain stamina and so drown while being attacked (so potions are essential).

I would settle for a damn wisp that actually can keep up with your movement so you don’t have to stop to let it dissipate. But the most is entirely goofy IMO and really only a sad way to limit range..

Well if you died 4+ times it for sure affected them. There is a decay rate on skills via death.

Alternatively, once you're able to get iron, place an iron bar on floor, put a fire on it. Done. Obviously that doesn't help in the early game stuff though. :)

Base near big open water is easier to manage but anywhere else is not too breaking. It will take few extra steps to set up away from your base harbor perhaps with smelters too and run around with meta..
