they added an extra biome, well i say added but its only in the test branch at the momentimagine playing the game up to the mountains then they patch the plains in after 2 years

In one old world that I tried with the test branch all old mistlands that I visited before, got regenerated. Perhaps they have less stuff, I didn't check.

The dark forest should definitely not be easier. =D Just be careful exploring until you gear up. Mind the wet and the cold ;-) and don't run out of stamina.

Yes my eyes hurt after a while trying to see through the mist,

The game now allows building of missiles for the bigger fauna.

Just found a mine with a runestone which displays the location of the new boss. Its like in the other biomes.

I found one as soon as I landed in mistlands, Some type of fort with mages who are friendly

fighting:-fire scares grey dwarfs-shield and club should be effective against skeletons. stag breaker is unnecessary and is really more for hitting skeletons through walls in the narrow crypt hallways..
