If you have all the iron you needed, you are missing something. I think my last home had like 500 iron bars in it for support beams alone, not counting the other stuff. Copper and tin to a lesser exte..

Base building and upgrading is also a large part of the game...I have over 550 hours played and I am still farming cooper and tin, it goes pretty quick when you are actually using it for something oth..

I don't believe so, tame wolves won't attack wild wolves or the other way around so I am assuming the same applies with all the animals.

Earth work the ground on your route to your mining area into a smooth path, makes the carts not snag. extra work, but thats how the devs like the game.
