Well you can speedrun it by yourself with less grind but i dont think that it would make for a very interesting game. If you are not into grinding just do it with few friends and it goes much faster.

I do not understand why anyone would really want a preset world when you are supposed to go out and explore....seems very counter intuitive to how the game plays.

Perhaps you could try turning down the Shadow Quality (Medium) and Active Point Light Shadows (High (3)) one step each from max. The graphical difference isn't big, but the performance boost is decent..

I've found it's when you hit the lowest portion of the exposed ore vein. I think, the engine is considering that point, the foundation?? At least from my experience, it's the lowest portion exposed.
