new content will spawn only in areas that you have not found yet. So dont go to the mountains if you want caves to spawn and stay away from Mistlands, Deep North and Ashlands.

It took me awhile before finding a swamp with crypts. I'd say you're in normal territory. Might just need to expand your search area a bit to find a good swamp.

I got the iron band shield and I make good use of it. If I wouldn't have that I'd be far more often dead than I already am. ;)
