The mist

Haven't explored everything in the new update yet, but man the mist is just too thick most of the time, the wisp helps a bit but i am still getting jumped by seekers and gjalls, hopefully i am missing something here and there is a way to increase visibility, but if not, i think it should be tweaked on release, or introduce some item or mechanic to increase the visibility gradually, like the more enemies you kill with the wisp equipped the brighter it shines, something like that would be great i think

I would agree that the soldiers are OP. If I were to make a request, it would be to either nerf the mobs there a bit, make the fog affect them as well, or back off a bit on the fog... My only complaint is that all of the above together just takes the fun out of exploring a new area. Then, gods help you if a fuling event happens.....

I get it's called "mist lands", but damn. That's not mist... It's foghiem...

As an aside I am always amused by posters who write things like "Half their player base left..." over some change. Really? half you say? And you know this how?
Perhaps they used one of these sites:

its absolutely gorgeous when you can actually see, its a real shame the clear areas arent very common, i think having some fog is good but i think too much of it is just a pure wall, and enemies can see you when you clearly cant see them even close

Some item similar to a distress signal flare might be something to add in - the flare would shoot up, and hover overhead for something like 1 minute, illuminating a larger area than the other mist-reducing mechanics currently available. Could even have a cool down or recharge timer of 10 min. or something, has to re-power with the mists, before the player can us it again to make it more of an item that requires some thought for when to use it rather than just mindlessly spamming.

The soldiers are definitely OP but what really gets me is dying to my own ballistas, they don't seem to like when i jump or use furnaces. :endzone_toiletPaper:

When they first "balanced" food and everyone went crazy and they changed it back, this feels like the same thing. They should change it because most people hate it. We are the players. The game being hard is fine but don't take away ALL the fun.

They didn't change it back, food was changed drastically, but it was changed so much that every food combination you made wasn't worth it. Half their player base left as the game was in such a horrible state, so they balanced it out. I hope they change the mistlands somewhat as well, people like to see the environment in this game.

I think the biggest hit most of us will take from the mist is not being able to get the drop on something from extreme range with a bow and destroy it before it lumbers in. This mist is a game mechanic I feel to nullify that combat aspect. More than likely on purpose rather than a consequence there of.

This mod allows you to change the rang on the wisplight from its defautl to much higher numbers/ranges, so you can better see the mistlands.

Carrying the new sword also helps with the mist plus keep dropping wisp torches in front of you as you go. Agreed that even with this, it's very easy to get jumped by a seeker soldier and man do they hit hard. They are also much stronger than a lox. Two of my pet lox died fighting one soldier and it was only half health at the end despite me using arrows on it while the fight was on. I'm hoping they will make the mist a little less dense and the soldiers a bit weaker.

If you have a camp in the mistlands consider setting up whisplight torches around it. They repell the fog too. Having about 20-30 around since my camp there has a sap farm and a mushroom farm. They also stop spawns nearby and dont need to be refilled.

Agree. If my entire screen is solid grey, the fog is too thick. Don't completely hide all that hard work by your artists!

The main artist is also part of design of game, so he wanted this.

I've watched streamers play in Mistlands. In my opinion the wisp is doing plenty for visibility.

But maybe they will like the suggestion.
