You've gone basically nowhere so far, but I see plains. Swamps and plains should be at similar distances from home with more or less equal frequency.

It took me a very long time to find the swamps. On my server, the swamp biomes are very small and scattered throughout the map which made them very hard to find.

I just found one on both sides of coastline. One side had a very very long one. I tried to stay a good distance away, but they were on both sides and it was narrow. It was ocean (not the deep dangerous kind) but it narrowed into not much wider than a river.

It wasn't night but close twilight. Knew not to be there with a boat but no where to land. Had been in rain and high seas for over a day. Saw 2 leeches and heard a sort of thump.

Cleared the swamp and cam to meadow, thank Odin. Left the boat in swim depth but close enough to get to. That minimizes greywolves and boars started to hack at it. Went to work on a base there far enough from swamp not to draw those mobs in.... getting off track. Long story short, worked on cabin all night, never heard anything but boat was gone in the morning.

Think that 1 leech maybe latched on and ate it, lol. Just my cargo of copper ore was floating in a box. Amazing that copper floats like that.

I finally found the swamp. It is actually to the right of the island where The Elder is located. Crazy dangerous place. But I'm glad I have found it. I have also set up a Portal right between the swamp and The Elder.

You'll find more swamps and plains to the East and West because of how the maps are generated.

A swamp always has a coastline.

I don't ever recall ever having a totally landlocked swamp. Don't think it happens honestly.

My current game I have found a lot of swamps but they are all tiny. Strips of swamp with nothing much in them, Not bad for harvesting resources but its been a killer for iron.

Out of the five-four crypts I have found they each were in their own smallish swamp area. All over the map in tiny spots.

Even found two bonemass altars in tiny swamps with no crypts ha ha.

Kind of crazy honestly.. at some point I am expecting to stumble upon a giant swamp with hundreds of crypts in it.

Thanks everyone! I guess I just need to enjoy more lazy river rides until I find a swamp :)

This. You may also notice some green glowy things on the trees.. that's the Swamp.

Do not recommend parking a boat anywhere near the Swamp, though; Leeches will eat it. :)
