Need some input. To buy or not to buy.
Hi folks!
Thinking about buying the game as i hear good things. I often read the negative reviews as well though but only those that go into detail about why they dont like something, and the things ive heard some people say they dont like is "too few things per zone" (like gear, monsters, bosses and dungeons) and very slow updates. It looks like far more people like the game than not so I should probably take that criticism with a pinch of salt.
What do you think guys? If i wasnt in a rough place in life atm (cash wise) i wouldnt hesitate, but trying to make sure i get a game i will enjoy and play, and not one that will accumulate digital dust in the digital bookshelf hehe. Thanks in advance for your input!
PS. I heard in a video that this game has sold an enormous amount of copies which has pulled in a lot of money for the smaller dev team. I guess bigger updates coming out slow means they never hired more developers for that money? That's just speculation on my part though. I thought if they were a small team and made a great EA game. Imagine what a big loot chest with cash and a twice as big dev team could accomplish!

To my knowing they hired a couple of people at least. It just takes time training them. We dunno what kind of people they hired tho. It doesnt really matter much. Fact is.. yes updates take a while. They don't want to rush things and make it good with as less bugs as possible and for an EA game this one really has just a few minor bugs at least for me.
The next update is rumored to arrive in the next couple of weeks. And when people complain about "to less" things.. it's mostly because they enjoyed the game so much that they want more. Thats not a bad thing just mostly projected as bad. I agree that every biome needs a lil bit... more of everything tho. But it's not as bad that I would give a negative review.
I mean depending on the kind of player you are you can even at this state.. put in 100-1000+ hours and still have fun. Even me as a dude that quickly loses interest in games when I'm done with the progression systems. I still enjoy playing this to build.. sail.. relax.. farming stuff and preparing for updates.
Edit: And mods.. damn.. mods can make things when stuff gets boring interesting again. For example all the graphic enhancements you can throw in.. so nice. I often just go into one of my favourite biomes and just woah me through it.

Alex, please accept my request.
As for what TyresTyco said, I think he pretty much nailed it in terms of what each side of the fence thinks about the game.

Really, you are the only person who can answer that question. It depends entirely upon your preferences as a player and whether or not you are okay with paying for Early Access games (which are under NO obligation to be updated, polished, bug free or even completed).
I've got a goodly number of hours into the game and I enjoy it very much. I'm the sort of player who likes to take things slowly, I dislike feeling rushed, and don't really "get" games or gamers that must be full-throttle in a mad dash for a finish line of completion. I enjoy the atmosphere of the game. I enjoy the challenges. I like building things. I like exploring. I like roleplaying, too, but the people I play with aren't so that's about the only itch I don't get to scratch with this game.
There are bugs. There are little things that might perturb but never really get under my skin (other than the melee range of the spear!!). The game is unfinished. I'd love to see a great deal more. I personally never run out of things to do; I make my own entertainment with the tools given.
That's me. You're you. If that helps, I'm glad.

Sorry to hear that but in this case valheim should be a good pick for you. Just please keep in mind that it's primarily a sp game. Coop on your or friends world if you want to.. otherwise you have to find a group of people with a dedicated server if you want the full mp experience with sharing tasks etc.
I for example play this mostly solo.. from time to time a friend jumps in helps building and eating my stuff away but eh.

Cheers mate. My internet here is pretty crap (wifi people share) so SP will be awesome. I miss my 500mb/s net. Its parked atm until i get a new place. I was looking at Elder Scrolls Online as it was just 5 bucks right now but then i realized my internet here wont cope with it, lol. Dont wanna be in some dungeon fighting a big bad boss and keep being logged out. Sorry to hear that but in this case valheim should be a good pick for you. BTW are the mods from workshop or Nexus? I will play pure the first playthrough but mods always spice it up when things get boring hehe.

Alex, check your message/inventory.
No workshop at the moment. It's all third party. For example, look up Valheim Plus.

Nexus. You should check out what they have after you play a while. So you have all the context you need to see whats nice to have at some time later.
Edit: Valheim plus would just overwhelm you at the beginning imho. It's just massive. And would probably just give you a lot of ??? in the head at first without knowing game basics.

That could be true. I didn't even think of it that way. ^_^ V+ is primarily a thing for players that have already experienced the game and need more QOL improvements. Silly me to think a new player whom hasn't even played the game yet would need it. ♥

You're welcome. Most members here at the forums are quite helpful. If you happen on Wizard_Of_Woz, don't mind his bluntness. He's actually quite helpful.

Also, it doesnt work well over the internet, lol.Thank you very much! In these pretty rough times we have in the world this made me very happy. I'll make sure to pay it forward.
