This community is slightly toxic sometimes...? I mean, this is not a PVP or competitive focused game and the devs show signs of progress and life, and yet...
Call me an "attention hoe" if you wish so, but i really find it weird.

Its 100% because of the cancelled roadmap.
People had expectations of 4 major updates with up to 10 minor updates, within the year - Instead we got 1 major update.

I'm honestly used to the rythm of game development and and update every 6 months is ok depending on the content to me. If they accomplish their proposed roadmap but with each major update every year and the small ones every half year, i think it would be good enough. But if they cancelled everything but the " home & whatever" update, then i'll be sad.
For comparison, "gta online" does that; the major updates launch with lots of bugs and some are fixed in the minor updates. "From the depths" does a minor update every 4 months or so but with tons of bugfixes. And Minecraft releases a lazy ♥♥♥♥♥♥ update every 6 months.
I'd rather have the devs honesty then the "No man sky" approach, or even worse, the "space engineers" approach (which was basically create another early access game without finishing the other one and randomly calling it fully released after a textures and multiplayer update).
On that note, i do navigate other forums sometimes and the toxic ones are usually the very popular ones or the FPS/competitive ones. That's why i found it strange.

You're not wrong. Some people want instant gratification. I call it the curse of the binge watch.

Because the game ended up getting massive publicity it attracted a ton of people who aren't familiar with Early Access at all and have the same demands out of it as if it was an full release game, and so have thrown an entitled fit over the fact it is, indeed, an unfinished Early Access game and all that entails, such as shifting roadmaps and potential delays.
This isn't the fault of anyone but those people who ignored the Early Access disclaimers and came with unrealistic expectations and demands.
Compound that with the normal groups who want something entirely different out of a game than what it clearly is.
Finally online forums, and gaming forums in particular have an issue with toxic behavior because it is a low effort way to get attention that a whole generation of gamers picked up watching Streamers behave the same way. Negative news and sensationalism gets better ratings than positive level headed rational news and all that.

I mean something to realize about forums is that the majority of a games player base will NEVER visit them and of those who do the bulk are going to be people who have an issue with some aspect of their game experience.
So by their nature forums and by proxy the perceived community are going to tend to slant towards the negative.
The inverse is also true tho not always as frequent but usually equally zealous in the form of fanatical praise, which is arguably just as toxic.
And if we think we've got it tough trying to filter through all that, imagine being the developer. On one hand having people saying they hate everything you do and on the other people saying you can literally do no wrong.

Off of what Weaver has said, when you are a frequenter of said forums and constantly see the safe whine over and over, at dinner point you lose your patience.
It's like a whiney version of the movie Groundhog Day around here.

You are aware we can see you long history of toxic trolling post across multiple steam forums and your previous profile names? Who exactly do you think you're fooling with playing a victim here? You're the perfect example of the last point I made.
