But Mistlands is honestly just horrible. Terrible gimmick of not being able to see combined with an awful landscape to navigate. It's not fun in the slightest bit. Combine the never ending uneven terrain with the horrible combat aiming below you or above you and it's a nightmare. I keep dying in what should be easy fights because I get swarmed by enemies and can't find flat ground to fight them on. Several of my swings miss and the result is death. This might be the least fun terrain I've ever encountered in a game. Once I have the mats I need to make the new items I'm never stepping foot here again, I wish they would've put more thought into it.

I wonder why the store page has gone from overwhelmingly positive to very positive? Hmm, let me guess!

A mod that makes the Demister Wisp in the game have a configurable range between 6 and 50. Default value range is 6.

Are you sick of fighting wolves on slopes and not being able to hit them? This mod uncaps the Y angle of your attacks so you can now look straight down or up and hit things if they are in range. This should've been in the game right off the bat.

Thanks, the Wisp mod makes it much more tolerable.

Amen, you perfectly nailed it. I finished it, killed the queen but the entire experience was horrible and I will never go there again unless I have to have a matt for something i'm crafting. The problem with Mistlands is that it is full of great ideas that just aren't fun to actually play. The mist is a cool idea, but it makes finding the already rare dungeons impossible to find. The steep cliffs are fun, but exacerbate the already bad stamina drain. That goes for the water always seemingly waiting at the bottom of every cliff. The combat? Hard, and should be rewarding but is ultimately just frustrating as you're too busy fighting the terrain itself and are unable to fight back.

the biome is impossible and not fun, between the ticks and the step cliffs that you can't get stamina, no place to put a portal or a table, it's just not fun, I like a challenge, but this is just unnecessarily frustrating.

I agree, not being able to see even with the Wisplight gets old really quick. Missing hits because a mob is slightly above me is also getting tiresome. I get it is early access, but still, maybe the devs will see and modify some of this before 1.0. For OP, I enabled a mod to expand the light the Wisplight provides and I am having much more fun being able to see more than 5 feet.

I'm using Valheim Plus....there's an option to turn off fog but I'm pretty sure that's just for weather, which I've left on because I actually like occasional fog. I'm going to look for the mod you mention, I think I've had enough.

ok, so, beat the 5th boss and get items. use items to make wisp well. use wisp for light. light makes fog go away.

Its definitely an interesting change in playstyle and tactics. I would agree it showcases some of Valheims flaws, fighting on inclines, stamina drain in 3-dimension geography, and I also feel some of the enemies could use some balance tweaks. (gjalls really need to be toned down or made to be a bit more rare)

I agree.
I remember the early days trying the Plains and the Deathsquitos killing me offshore in a boat.... but at least I could see the Deathsquitos coming so I could stay further out or come in more stealthy.
Mistland's terrain is 100% more annoying than any other bad terrain in other games. Skyrim for example in the mountains could be a pain to figure a way up with tons of jumping and trying to find the right area to land on to keep going up.
It's almost like the devs thought "which two super-annoying things are in open world games - lets combine them !!!!!!". I bet the ashlands will have quick time events and strong hot winds that make you walk/run at 10% speed...

I actually like it. The mysterious ambient and the almost cosmic horror (like in the movie The Mist, which again is inspired by King and Lovecraft) inspired atmosphere and enemies... it is great. Finally a feeling of danger again. The fighting on inclines thing is true however. I would like to see a fix as well.

i might give up this game after 600+ hours because of the horrible navigation in mistlands. The wisp needs it own slot and radius to be MUCH higher. The never ending spamming of jumping everywhere then swimming because ships almost instantly die to the enemies here is just bad.
