I love this game. BUT it has 2 big problems.
Just wanted to put my 2 cents on what this game seems to be doing wrong atm.
1- Death and Body Retrieval-
YOu can end up in the wrong biome as a new player that is unfamiliar with the game, or just be really far away from home and die.
Often this can lead to you not being able to get your body back as everything there will 1 shot you. Specially if u went wrong biome (like me) and i went plains with bronze gear.
Not being able to recover your body often resets you/having to go farm for hours(days depending on biome) to remake your gear that is quite expensive.
Most guys ik cheat and console when that happens, but you shouldnt have to. But it can set you back days when something like that happens.
Simple fix: Keep equiped items, just lose loot. (like Vrising for instance)
2- Not enough resources. Also related to Death n Body Retrieval.
You can solo this game or 3-4 man it. But more or full server?
Often on the spawn island there isnt enough copper to get more than 2 guys equipped.
Later on in the game its even rarer.
Get reset and cant reach body and also no resources left? Recipe for an annoying adventure or just restart the game.
I get thats why a lot of servers only do 3-4 people and not more, cuz its a fight on resources.
They need to increase that or drop the grind.
My 2 cents.
Outside of that, i adore the game.

There's always so much cope in these threads...
For one, Keep Inventory should be standard and death runs should be the option, in my less-than-humble opinion.
The issue with 2 isn't the amount of resources found. It's the amount of resources needed. 100 ingots for one sword is completely unreasonable. 30 seconds per ingot of smelt time is too much time. Having to ship my ore/ingots to get them home is garbage. All easily fixable. All won't be fixed.

I don't think you understand the adventure. The bodies are difficult to recover since it is the only difficulty that the game has. That is why you must make constant beds or dwellings to revive near where you are. I've lost ships, equipment and more trying to search for bodies. But that's the best thing about the game, otherwise it becomes too simple. If it bothers you, become immortal and look for your team and that's it. But neither to pretend that the game is for 2-year-olds.

Without the corpse runs, I don't think I would have developed the land much. I don't think I would have had much incentive to build my whole network of cabins, outposts, lodges, little fortresses, and ports if things like corpse recovery and resource collection were trivial. My world would be much poorer as a result.
Nothing is a better teacher than a corpse run. It requires me to think, dig deep, and problem solve like no other experience in Valheim.
Without the corpse runs, I'd never be rafting across a sea to the next continent in my undies, relying on tasty mead and neck tails.
Without corpse runs, I'd never would have the thrill of sneaking up behind a 1-star Fueling to grab my stuff behind his back.
It was stressful at the time. Now, looking back on it, those are the memories that stick with me the most.

the entire "Dieing and losing stuff/Progress" thing is why i always take the time to get extra resources to make sure that i can at least get myself some gear before going to get my body and get whatever items on it that i actually need to have and cannot lose. always keep extra equipment at Base so that you KNOW that, IF you die, you have at least some geat that can keep you somewhat safe if/when you decided to get your stuff from your corpse.

Yea, one thing Val does not suffer from is lack of resources. Worse yet, with experience, you will be able to tell what is a guaranteed drop and go to where those creatures are and farm the heck out of them.
As for ores, and copper in particular, have at the dirt and stone that surround the deposit until you can tell how deep it is. Chances are you can mine substantially more than what you can see on the surface.
So, yea, I would like to see the exact opposite to happen. Abundance of resources takes much away from what is to be a "brutal survival" adventure. You should have to carefully plan every single crafting, every single upgrade, continually asking yourself "heck, do I *really* need this?"
Disclaimer (about mining): Mining is a noisy activity and is likely to attract creatures native to the biome and potentially even creatures from other biomes that are close enough. :-)

The prime focus of the game design as it stands (this may change) is :
Exploring.
If you explore resources become available regardless of the size of your team and by definition should be able to craft and be familiar to operate the ships & portals in game.
So with that being the premise.
#1 It should be possible to make an emergency Kit of spare gear if you get killed far from home.
#2 You should be able to use excising portals or sail to where your corpse is in your spares and retrieve it.
Being killed is a pain in the neck yes but if you prepare its an inconvenience at best. Loosing skill sis the actual penalty.
So for the OP I hope the difficulty slider they talked about when it comes covers thir wish. But for me that's definitely (very) easy mode

Regarding #2:
There's so many resources available, you just have to look.
Copper nodes are more as just the part you see sticking out of the ground. Dig around it using a pickaxe and you'll find a large boulder having up to 100 copper ore. Which is enough for one player.
Move 2-3 screens away from that location in the BF and you will find a couple more nodes.
I've had games where I found 15-20 copper ore nodes in a single BF at a single island. Which is more than enough to supply multiple players.
Tin is a bit more scarce, but given you need less tin as copper to create bronze, it's still enough. Especially since you won't need bronze armour anyway.
There's also plenty full wood, stone, iron, black metal and whatever other resource you need. All you need to do is keeping your eyes open.
The only troublesome moment with a full server is when starting and all needing some food. But the moment you're able to kill boars or deers and using their meat as a food source, it will make live a lot easier.
So if one's short on resources, one's doing something wrong.
Thorin :)
All excellent points.... I just wanted to add a comment on the Tin. Tin respawns. Just be careful to not hit the ground and ONLY mine the tin without disturbing terrain. If you do it this way you can come back and mine the whole shoreline multiple times. If you hit the ground around the Tin on accident, that piece of Tin will not respawn.

Valheim centers its character progression curve around equipment and grinding hours to power up that equipment. Then it drops that equipment when you die. It's a very odd design choice, more suited for a PvP grief fest than a PvE game.
The only real way around it is to mitigate your risks. Spam portals everywhere, don't explore at night, and don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Like the others said.
keep portal stuff on you, or in your boat at all times. Drop the portal in a safe(ish) place before you venture out.
the only thing that scares me is losing stuff at sea. thats perma gone.

I see a lot of people complaining about corpse retrieval being impossible and I honestly don't understand what they are talking about.
When I was new to the game I entered my first swamp by boat and couldn't get a portal down before I was killed. I had to build 2-3 more boats until I could get a portal down and get everything back. I learned from that experience that portals should always be priority number one, especially when entering a new biome or making long trips.
If you have a portal nearby (which as just mentioned you always should have) you just eat some good food, get the rested buff + the corpse run buff, jump in your portal, sneak up to your corpse avoiding enemies, wait for your stamina to be full and then run to your tombstone, grab everything and get the hell out of there.
The only enemies you cannot outrun are deathsquitos but once you get to know them you can one shot them before they can even touch you. You just have to time your attack right. Or you could use bows from a distance.
If you are kinda new to the game, maybe you should avoid skipping multiple biomes worth of gear and food and progress more slowly. I know that there are people who play the whole game in troll armour but that's not how the game is meant to be played and an extra challenge those players chose for themselves.
I even stopped equipping secondary gear for corpse retrieval at all because all you really need is a nearby portal and enough stamina to outrun your enemies. A naked run also has the advantage that you can grab your stuff in one go without having to rearrange or throw stuff away.
For the resources I can only say that there are plenty for solo players and I would imagine even enough for 10 people but of course then you would have to explore and travel more to find them all...

1 doesn't bother me so much, I just Devcommand it back. I don't have friends and sometimes just get caught in exploring to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I love the game and if I got to cheat to recover my stuff so be it. I'm an idiot. I choose to leave my auto pick up on, it's more annoying than not to have honestly to me, I don't prep right and I let my stamina frustrate me to no end instead having better management. I don't do more than recover and reset.

Most of these things are mistakes you won't make a 2nd time. Cheap light gear that you can easily replace you just easily replace.
Getting too far from where your body is you can fix by using temporary portals to and from your spawn point. You just have to make sure that you set up a portal when you get more than 1/2 a day travel from your previous portal.
Not every player in a multiplayer game needs heavy armor. Your tank is the only person that really needs it. The rest of the group can get by with light armor made from renewable resources (deer hide, troll armor, root armor, fenris armor, and eitr-weave).

point #1 is well covered in these forums so i'll not touch on it.
regarding point #2: unless your starting island is TRULY tiny (very rare but it does happen) then you will never want for copper, even on a 10 person server. each node goes quite deep. Iron is a bit of a different story but there's still enough on one map for everybody. Also, many large groups use "resource servers" which is just another map that everyone gets their mats from. this is done so that the map everyone is building on doesn't look like it was eaten by termites.
