Anothe thread mentions a Harpy like creature.

Considering that the devs could have sliupped anything they wanted into the game during an update i would say its too early to discount the possibility that what the OP saw might be something new in the game.

Just look at how Odin and Thor were in the game but never mentioned in any of hte notes or descriptions. And I remmber a lot of people being "I just saw some F$#%ing freakky thing that vanished when I got close to it" and other such comments.

Was this just some wierd graphics glitch or something the devs snuck in?
The last update was only what, 10 days ago? Lets just wait and see if others report the same or similar in the next few weeks,

it wasnt a furling, nor elder, it was clearly a greydwarf of some sort... largest ive seen, about the size of a troll. Def in black forest. no, no mods.

I came upon a weird building, almost looked like a cult alter (not one of the in game alters) and there were a bunch of small dwarflings running around. I crept in, the moment I saw the big one pop out and come around at me, I ran off... ended up running into a few swarms, ran all the way to a crypt and ducked in.... messaged my friend, then dipped out and immediately got swatted by a troll. Then my friend had to log off.

I tried searching around for it again, for some reason I cant even find the building the super dwarfling was at.

Dont feed the trolls...

Was it a Greydwarf Brute? They're not exactly troll sized but they're a lot bigger than the other greydwarfs.

I said troll size, brutes arent even half a trolls size. this was a really, really, big greydwarf.

Oh ok. Assuming it's not the Elder then, either, as the Elder is MUCH bigger than a troll (and you have to summon it). Are you running mods? Was it humanoid? There is a new-ish tree-monster in the game but it's non-humanoid and spawns in the swamp.
