Why's the hearth 2x1.5?????

And it's so tall, too. Above eye level tall. Only way to make a proper, viking floor hearth is to surround it with stone floor. But even then, since the hearth is so overscaled the stone floor will clip through it.... And the iron cooking rack is oversized for trolls to use, too.

Devs. Please. Make it 2x1 and no taller than the fireplace.

Nothing overscaled or anything, it's a heavy duty roasting spit or what do you think how they roasted boars or an ox back then?
And the hearth fits that size well, it's all to scale.

The fit of the kitchen stuff is just harsh at times...
- the hearth is a weird size.
- the new iron rack is too long and very picky about any microscopic bit being not over the fire and is a tough sell with a cauldron too. I gave up and did a second hearth just for it outside on the patio.
- the spice rack won't fit anywhere, I ended up stuffing one up my chimney out of sight. It would not hang on the wall nor the chimney nor the other wall ... always out of range of the pot or bumping into something else.
- the pots and pans are a little better but still a tight fit
- I felt compelled to put my ez bake oven on a stone floor tile to get it up to a height for adult vikings

and honorable mention of trying to stuff the new hot-tub exhaust into the chimney from the bedroom side, which, sharing a chimney with the kitchen, forced a near total destroy and rebuild of both rooms.

Sounds like you just have issue making space in your base builds. That's fine, I struggle sometimes as well. Maybe these will change, but I dont think its the games issue more then it is your ability to reserve or imagine space for builds.

There is truth in that... I struggled a lot because my kitchen is from before all these items existed and I did not plan ahead for ginormous items that have a 3 foot connection radius to the pot on the fire. If I started a new home and planned the entire kitchen around the spice rack, it would probably have gone a lot better. Still, I could stand to see a 50% increase in the radius to the cauldron for the rack and pans, and a bulk rack that fits attractively along with a cauldron over one hearth sized fire.

Don't get me wrong, I like what I ended up with apart from my spice rack. It was just harder than it needed to be with the short tether to the cauldron and oversized rack.

This is exactly how I have it. Stick half of it outside and build the chimney on top of that part and lower it into the floor.

Look, sometimes you need to dig a little to make everything level. This is true in game, and in real life.
You can mitigate this a bit by having a raised foundation using stone or wooden frames, then raising where you want the hearth to be using the hoe.

raised the firepit a little more - same can be applied to the hearth
