Mistlands update experience
Your vision is 5 meters, jump jump jump jump waiting for stamina jump jump jump fall waiting for stamina fight with worm waiting for stamina... Congratulation you move 10 m forward repeat it 100 times and lucky you find dungeon with one black core. Oh you need juice from indrasill root you need to just go back with your ship aroud 1 h to your base take black metal and make machine. I never go back to game this update sucks.

Yeah but when there is not nearby plains i think crafting should be differrent. But this is the smallest problem and I only wrote about it because I was frustrated about exploration in mistlkands. get some black metal from a plains biome neighbouring mistlands.
Take some sirtling cores with you to refine iron from mist, or gather them from dungeons and ruins.
Once you reach mistlands, you can do everything without needing to portal out or use a boat. It really just depends on how organised you are.
And yeah have to agree on optimization, performance (whether in mistlands or out) took a large dive with the update, there's regular freezing/FPS drop even when there's not much going on.

The game should not be nerfed more but:
- 1. Optimization should be prioritized.
- 2. Multiplayer interactions should be prioritized (yes this game was meant to be co-op).
- 3. Travelling experience should be improved asap.
- 4. Npc workers/followers should be introduced for ppl that want to stick solo.
- 5. Mistlands should have more POIs (and unique npc's). Same for other biomes too.
I agree

Took my boat for a swim around the island to find out how much jumping blindly i'll need to do to actually FIND any of those new dungeons... died to pissed dwarf mage 1 shot. Got a new boat... died again of his shot...
Getting back your EQ got REALLY annoing since Deathsquitos ... and now it's even worse.
Also, having two starred Gjall spawning near my house every 5-10 days is awesome (it didn't helped, that my house is actually in Mountains near Mistlands)

Got to love how the game promotes creativity and strategy to be successful. Not all of these players should make it to Valhalla if deathsquitos and now nerfed gjall/seekers make them rage quit lol.

Everyone can succeed enemy was easier than swamps but only psycho can spends 100 hours going from base to biome on other side on map and not having fun beacouse jumping stamina and no vision. But there is not only problem for this update optimalization is still poor.. in my base i have 20 fps leaving it wow 70-90 fps. Staying in base cooking 30 min meals with 20 fps is horror. And in this update when mage attack me i have bug with light some poligons everywhere are red and i need to reset my game.

I agree fog would be good if terrain was flat. Small vision but you can run and find dungeons in a reasonable amount of time also terrain can be hilly but your vision must be 5xbigger. I honestly like the mist/wisp idea, but the terrain sucks. I haven't got any magic yet and my game loop in mistlands is jump/swim->die->repeat. I've lost 1/5 of my skills already. Seekers look a bit overpowered at this point, they can fly and swim and they hit like a truck I wonder do mobs have stamina?

People for me this update isnt hard or unbalanced. Bad design has nothing to do with being casual.
It's just frustrating and poorly designed. Exploration is always been most important in this game but in mistlands is not fun anymore.

my 2 Yen;
Based on what I'm reading in the various forums I get the impression the Mistlands update was pushed out before it was fully play tested and balanced because Iron Gate didn't want to deal with the PR ♥♥♥♥ storm that would have happened if they didn't release SOMETHING for the Mistlands in 2022 like they had been saying they would back when they decided to completely redo the zone from scratch.
In short IG didn't manage the publics expectations as well as they could have and promised more than they could deliver in the time they gave themselves.
Personally I expected this to happen and after following the various discussions and comments in these forums I'm going to give Valheim:Mistlands a pass for at min another 4-6 months, possibly longer, to give the devs some extra time to actually make the new zone more balanced and playable by casual players, like myself, who are just average people who don't have the reflexes or loads of free time to develop the in game skills this game needs but just want something they can chill out with after a workday.
Just how it looks to me currently, I expect a others will disagree but as long as things are kept civil a good discussion can be fun and informative.

I have to agree.
Valheim was a breakout hit and I recently came back to it for the new update and it seems like the developers have done almost nothing with it for 18 months. Mistlands is half-baked and an absolute nightmare to explore. I can't even be bothered trying to get the last boss done.
The wisp trinket should just completely dispel the mist as a minimum.

So true. I started a fresh solo game and was super excited to try the mistlands. Killed Yag and was stoked to venture into the mistlands. Then... I got super bored. Low visibility and a pain to get around in. That's pretty much it. Found a mine and cleared it and thought "just need to find 3 or 4 more like it to get what I need (cores)". But I really don't want to spend the time jumping around to find them. Just got bored of it really quickly. It looks cool... wish I could see it

heres my personal take on this problem, it feels like mistland was balanced around two serious things, ONE magic and TWO co-op because with magic it becomes much more tolerable than before as a meele user without magic and despite having Q4 padded armor (which is 100 armor, on par wit the cartapaste armor) and as previously stated the fog of war is a serious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem given how quick the mobs are to notice you but you cant see them back and given the most common enemy is by far the most dangerous being so heavily melee based and can easily come in groups, it makes it an absolute nightmare to solo, the plains were doable because you could see these enemies appearing beforehand so you could get the jump on them with a bow but here you have little to no room to work with, cant see them for crap and the dungeons... my god the dungeons it was gruesome it forced me to cheat given how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard it was compared to the plains but the moment i got magic it was... too easy like it was no problem afterwards because 90% of the mistland enemies that ARE a problem dont have range and thus makes it easy to counter sure theres still things that have range but you got ♥♥♥♥ like a magic shield, frost staff and AOE fire attack, meanwhile non magic users have no AOE, a regular shield that you have to hope to parry with, and a crossbow or a bow that doesn't do ♥♥♥♥ given their hard windup unlike the staffs.
TLDR magic was seemingly built around mistlands no problem but meele was not, additionally most of this feels like it was made for co-op and not solo
