Valheim 800 A.D.
I think this game has the best potential when it comes to a huge open world sandbox community/server akin to Rust and Ark. But with a more intimate and world scale setting. Think 200 players (or more, or less) spread across the entire map, with some tweaking to boat speed, hp of enemies and construction costs - it could lead to a very immersive and challenging experience. The closest clan next to you is 4 in game days travel away, there are rumors of a huge coastal city more advanced and full of trade to the east across a massive ocean.
I think with some testing and tweaking, you could make some servers into an amazing sandbox/civ type game. (obviously network and engine permitting)

I'm sure you could modify the already existing barrier item in the game. But as I said, you could tweak constructed hp values if you still wanted sieges/wars to be apart of it.

sounds like you want Valheim to be an MMO game. IG said in thier fireside vid before H&H release. they are not building a MMO game. just like caves you would need to do a overhaul of the engine thats running Valheim

Ok just imagine how nightmarish the netcode for that would be.
Yeah, only imagination can do that. Sorry.

You'd need a whole lot of land claim and anti-grief tech in the game first, at this stage a single player can permanently destroy a city in minutes.
