As far as i can tell based from the videos, tatch is the way to go.

But then again, I've only played until the bronze age so far and have seen a couple of videos. So... take my words with a grain of salt.

Thatch is historically very strong very thick with layers and can last for 100's years in Norse Vikings Holland Netherelands Eurpoean houses in cold countries used it for centuries it with stood rain and snow. It was just patched after many years, Just saying :)

I'd like the ability to build a turf house, too.
When you don't get thatch or reeds, use turf with gras on top.
Easy to work with and readily available.

He's asking about in game content, not historical authenticity. This is a fictional game.

My problem is that you are and continue to derail the thread with meaningless information.
If the OP was "Were thatch roofs all vikings used?" Then your post would be warranted.
Just like Green Hell, you feel the need to comment on every single thread even if you have nothing constructive to add.

There is nothing known at this time. Currently stone buildings still require thatch rooftops.

So there should be nothing wrong in getting Turf right?

Please point to a map and show me where is Valheim.
Please point to a history book and show me giant blob poison monsters and sea serpents and walking skeletons.

Again,

It would be nice to have an option other than thatch, if for no other reason than visual variation. Plus, it seems a little odd how roofing in general progresses so little as you advance through the game. You'd think that by the time you went from nothing but a ragged shirt and your bare hands to copper armor and weaponry, that you'd have found some other roof material. Same thing goes for beds for that matter. But hopefully that's just a matter of the game not having fleshed out its content yet.

Thatch is all we have at the moment.

The Hearth and Home update might bring some new roofing options.

well that sucks, i guess i will have to use stone roofs and thatch under it for my combat bunkers.

but from exploring the plains ive seen 2 new types of building styles that look like the next tier up in asthetics, so I was thinking we would also get this.

Again,

I mean... you're all like "My problem is that you are and continue to derail the thread" but you continue to participate in derailing the thread.

But go off I guess.
I respond when spoken to. I can't help if you and others continue to stray from OP's question. (Which I've already answered, but that doesn't fit your narrative I guess)
So thanks, I will!

but for the most part i was hoping we would get a flat roof so when we make massive halls , we dont have to have huge sledding angle roofs.

Thatch roofs last for about 10 years.

Thereโ€™s 2 thatch cottages in the village and one was redone last year. Costs a arm and a leg as there are a few specialists. But looks really nice come done and keep the cottage super warm and cool throughout the year.
