Yeah i did, i can see tonnes of dedicated server tools, that isn’t anywhere to be found.

Have you tried using SteamCMD to install it, as indicated in the link above. It should work. I tested it on a different PC and never had to give my Steam credentials.

yeah cheers I just realised I forgot about that, I'm a noob on running servers, I've got debian installed and started to configure SteamCMD now instead, I used that chatgpt ai bot to tell me how to install the server and headless valheim on steam, it gave me a bum steer and out of laziness I wasn't paying attention and just following it, I've never run SteamCMD to be honest. I managed to get the ai bot to give me a guide for SteamCMD lol.

hey thanks so much, it's my fault I was following that ai chatgpt bot guide after I asked it too much in one hit, I should have been reading it properly and paying attention, solved by asking it just how to do a headless valheim with steam and got this info, cheers very much.

Glad you got it sorted. Back when I played Ark was my first experience running SteamCMD, for pretty much the same thing as what you're doing for Valheim. It's really easy, as long as you have good instructions for what you need to put in the batch file for it. :)

Yeah the usualy case with running it on linux is that the guides are always outdated and can't tracking the right ones, luckily I know a guy who does this for a living, he's a linux wizard, he didn't even know what Steam was until about 2 hours ago but he's quite clever so he's managed to set it all up for me remotely lol.
