no advanced settings for worlds?

so, 4 hrs in i finally manage to kill the first boss, got back to my house and crafted a pick but before i could use the pick i was swarmed by 20 mobs, 2 big axe guys and a healer, they've proceeded to kill me 10 times as i cant get to my body as they are swarming my spawn point.
is there a way to turn raids off? as a solo player the number of mobs made it an unwinnable situation, pretty disappointed there seems to be no options to adjust a new world to make it easier for solo players

If your 100% stuck look at dev commands. Hit F5, turn on ghost. You can interact with the world but are invisible to it. Grab your stuff, re-equip, even out the fight, turn ghost off, get on with the game.

"The Horde is Attacking" Includes 2 very large stone-axe wielding berserkers, who hit like Andre the Giant using Lucille. There are also 2 shaman casters who cast protective bubbles on themselves and others, and have 2 powerful spells, an AoE & fireballs, and 20-30 fulings, wielding a variety of weapons, so it is an Invasion Event or Raid.

Which is why the OP makes no sense what so ever to me. It's either he is not on a solo server, or this is the 1st major bug we have seen, and I am leaning towards the first scenario because no one has experienced anything remotely like a Horde invasion after killing Elder.

I'm not as experienced as others on here and haven't got that far yet, but if OP is 4 hrs in at the 1st boss, shouldn't he not encounter 2 big ax guys with a healer?

Aren't those late game Plains mobs?

I assumed we were talking two graydwarf brutes and a shaman.

Take that new pick-axe of yours, and build a killing pit outside your base. Make sure it is outside your base defences, but not too far. The enemies will always zone in on you, so by leaving your base you save it from any damage. I practised with a shield early in the game, and when I was wearing bronze armour I was soloing trolls by parrying their attacks and stunlocking them, thanks to my shield. Once one gets familiar with using a bow and a shield death comes a lot less often.

Events have a 20% chance of starting every 46 minutes if there is a player within 40 meters of at least 3 base structures (except for the "You are being hunted..." event which doesn't require player base). The event is randomly selected from available events. One way to avoid those major invasions is to make sure you do not have 3 base structures within 40 metres of each other (pretty sure that is the distance). A trick is to destroy your forge while you need to use your stonecutting bench. Then after you have finished using the stonecutting bench, for whatever construction you need it for, destroy it then rebuild your forge. This way you only have 2 crafting benches close to one another at a time. This will stop the majority of large invasion events from occurring. Within 2 or 3 minutes of building a forge in a distant base I built today, where I already had a workbench and a stonecutting bench, "The Horde is Attacking" event was triggered.

It might be nice in these circumstances if mobs prioritised destroying the player's bed. Makes sense for them and would remove the death loop problem.

But as others have said, graydwarves are scared of fire. Knowing this should be enough to break up the swarm.

The game scales to the number of players, so you don't need options to make it easier for solo players. The game already does that. You just need to learn the basic mechanics of the game.

I don't know why people keep expecting the game to have features like this when it's still in early stage Early Access. It's at v0.206.5. If this game is released already, at v1.0+, then I would understand this question, but it's not.

Why aren't there advance world generation settings? Because the game hasn't been released out-of-development yet. The developers have priorities. Have you read the forum lately? Unreasonable people (not you) have been asking for a myriad of things, expecting it's all just a matter of 'it's easy to implement!" - maybe, but only on the notion that a thousand other people aren't feature creeping for a whole bunch of 'minor' things too.

As for a possible solution to your problem? Turn on F5 console. Go to your game launcher options and add -console to it. In-game, press F5. Type devcommands, then type debugmode. Afterwards, press Z to fly, B to build stuff without using resources, K to kill everything around you.

Hey, this is part of the game and it should be hard. These events last for 2 minutes, the more you kill the more will spawn. Low health? Just run in circles, build fire or torch (they hate it). Use your bow more often. Build a fence or a wall around your base. Don't stay in your base, they will attack your house, just go outside, they will follow you.
And watch some videos on youtube, maybe this will help. Spoiler, Trolls will be a bigger threat. :D

Don't sell yourself short. The game is challenging but not unnecessarily so. Don't seek out settings to reduce difficulty, seek out advice on how to do better in the game.

1) had you upgraded your armor? (leather or Troll)
2) had you upgraded your shield? (lvl 1,2 or 3)
3) had you upgraded your flint ax?
4) Had you upgraded your crude bow? (its possible to make a fine wood bow without having access to a bronze ax by knocking logs into oak and birch tree's till they fall...Then ramming the birch/oak logs into each other netting fine wood)

All of the above are doable before you get a single copper or tin ore.

Are you parrying attacks or just going head long into the fray?

Greydwarves are very weak to fire, resistant to poison. The ones you have to give a lot of respect to early are the Shaman and the Brute.

At 4 hours in I'm usually eating Deer meat, Boar meat and Honey... and VERY CLOSE to getting a cauldron giving me access to Deer stew, Carrot Stew and Boar Jerky.

If you want in game help/tips I'd be happy to join your game with a brand new (fresh) character and show you how easy it is to stay alive even w/ all skills set at zero.

If the vocal minority had their way I think this game would be nerfed to the ground (RIP DEATHSQUITO).

We already have a laid back version of the game...

ASTRONEER (its awesome but very little "menace").

As said before, if there are mobs where you spawn, as soon as you spawn, equip torch, it will keep them away. But they will send stones at you, so stay mobile.

Make sure to stay in the red circle on the map when the raid event occurs, if you move outside the countdown timer to end the raid pauses. Otherwise as mentioned above run in circles until the raid ends. You can then run off and the mob will despawn.
Fire / torches help with greydwarfs but not the brutes or shamans. Try to steer clear of the shamans as their poison spell is what'll most likely drain your health.
