Knives in the water
it would be so badass to jump out of your boat and take on a serpent head on, then die but it was fun in the moment

The water mechanics are actually the biggest flaw in this game imo. Your essentially removing an entire potential biome with the way swimming works. We could have some underwater resources, foods, etc. There could be an entire set of armor made from serpent skin for example that could let you move more freely in water and while i understand not being able to use a giant mace in the water things like knives, spears and harpoons are all realistic choices.
I don't have much hope for any of that to change but i would think it should at least be possible to make a few weapons usable.
What a joke, we are on a purgatory mystical realm and you want to remove the very thing Vikings are known for, this is hilarious in a sad way.

What do you think Grim wants to remove? Sounds to me like they're talking about ways to expand the game.

Look, we have established rules for this. If you're gonna be launching magic projectiles while undead you're supposed to look like a litch. Yeah, that's totally the part of the game where the undead guys in a flat mystical realm break physics :p
Seriously though, mystic fantasy realms still need to mostly operate the same as our universe or you'd have the gameplay equivalent of reading House of Leaves.

The best version of that is undead archers sniping you from the sea floor. Those guys are plain breaking physics.

I did a playthrough with just troll armour and knife - assassin style. Zero speed penalty. Almost zero stamina. So fun.

Badass I beat down serpents until they're within a single hit to death. Then I jump on their back and kill them. Usually, I draw a bow and shoot them on the way down. I get the trophy and scales that way too. If you're really lucky, you might be able to balance on their back for a second or two, enough to get a swing in (if you haven't killed them already).

Never understood games that won't let you draw a hand held weapon while swimming, yet the mobs seem OK to throw things at you, shoot stuff, etc.
