Small question about hosting a modded private game
If a friend wanted to join my modded game would he also have to add the same mods to the game or will the game itself just take care of it?

It depends on the mods and if you're just hosting from your PC or from a dedicated server.
If you're hosting from your PC, you'll both need all mods to have the same experience.
If you're hosting a dedicated server, some mods work serverside but many mods still require clientside installations.
