Found a rather easy solution that seems to work for me - copy the game folder - update game - delete updated game folder and copy old gamefolder and rename it to the standard name.

Game then seems to think its updated and probably will keep doing so until the next update or until you verify game files. Steam seems to save if a game is up to date in some other folder. This actually is great because i have a lot of problems with other games and updates aswell - nothing worse than constantly having mods broken because of patches.

Not sure if this works for everyone - so keep backups of your game files and savegames!
