Died in a Mountain in a separate island, and I just stopped caring.
I got hit by a Drake's frost attack while I was wet and at 55 damage and I died instantly. I restored a backup from the Cloud Save for my character but then I realized I had to get my boat back from that other island. So I just... deleted my world and character data. I was just... tired. I probably should've just waited for that Frost Resistance Potion to be done before venturing to that patch of the Mountains, though...

The trick I usually use is to just back up all the saves in a separate folder and restore said backup if I end up dying. Like Caves of Qud but more tedious. You can activate the dev commands temporally and fly to your boat. This is a trick, i know, but sometimes is necessary if you really want to recover your boat or loot from unacessable location without spend many resources and time.

Also why would anyone delete their world? its not like you lose everything from one death... you can always grind it back but it wont take as long as it does when you start from scratch.
I'm just reminded of this debate about Alt-F4 in Touhou Genso Wanderer, a roguelike dungeon crawler. Dying in that game means restarting the dungeon from Floor 1. In someone's opinion, that's what creates a learning experience. In another's opinion, accidents happen, and forcing people to slog through the earlier parts just to go back to the point where the player died is still time better spent on anything else, and it's even worse if the death is due to factors outside of the player's control, especially if it's bad luck.

Not sure what to say here, you seem to be aware of the mistake(s) you made. R.I.P. I guess?

Ark is a crappy clone of a game called diablo, also id help you get your stuff back, ive got a ton of extra materials id give you. i suppose cheating is always an option as well.
Ark (what Cellar_Cat is referring to) is a dinosaur game, you are referring to "Lost Ark" - two completely different games.

You choices are to start a new world, make a new boat, install mods, or learn console commands and fly over there. Do whichever one sounds more appealing to you after you've cooled off a bit. (Hard to go back when you've deleted it, but fresh starts can be fun too. I played permadeath for awhile while waiting for the mistlands update. It was oddly refreshing to not have to worry about retrieving a corpse. But I learned a lot about not dying, wisdom which I sometimes ignored.)
Games are here to entertain you, not the other way around.

I've had my share of restarts. The nice part here is the materials to remake most gear is easily obtained vs other survival crafting games.

Yeah, I know the feeling lol. >700 hours of Ark PvP and one day I woke up to find the entire massive base had been annihilated overnight. I just closed the game, uninstalled it and never went back. I think sometimes you end up playing something not because you enjoy it, but because it's *nearly* the game you want and you wish you could enjoy it, and it just gets really exhausting to do that.

It seems awful to die and realize you never made a portal or have to sail back, but honestly boats arent that resource intensive, and now you know better for next time

Until you die trying to reclaim your gear. Also recreating the gear I originally died in without trying to reclaim it takes time, especially if the Swamps are in an island far away. I mean, I died in the Mountains area that's closer than the Swamps area! I learned early on to always make sure to bring portal mats and put down a protected portal to a new island before I ventured further on it. Always been conservative when exploring.

i got smoked by a 1 star flying guy in the mistlands, got attacked by a serpent on my way back, outran it, was ambushed by a soldier and 3 seekers at my corpse, and still managed to get my corpse, kill them all, and gtfo.

Even if you die trying to reclaim your gear it WONT disappear... the corpse will still be there, it just wont be visible on the map.
Its a massive waste of time to delete worlds and character data, theres no reason to... you can always regain what you lost and your character will improve over time due to those passively increasing skills.
You cant regain skills easily if you delete everything, like you can with materials.
+ the base youve spent building for hours.
Me and my friend have been coop playing since launch every once in a while and our skills vary... our running is about the same at around 70 give or take. Even with a few deaths.
It takes a long time to increase those character stats so deleting it completely is not a good idea imo. Also why would anyone delete their world? its not like you lose everything from one death... you can always grind it back but it wont take as long as it does when you start from scratch.

I've quit and come back other times before but after attempting to fight Yagluth with maxed gear and dying after taking 5% of its health I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble...
The fight against him is a overwhelming grind. Not particularly hard but it lasts so freaking long that the same Fuelings, Deathsquitos, Loxes, Thars that spawn nearby are gonna keep coming at me, over and over again and This ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Boss is gonna keep resetting its health. ♥♥♥♥ this game.
