What’s the fuss?

About the new update? I see so much hate towards it, I’m a new player so I wouldn’t know the difference between the old and new versions but this game really rocks! The stamina can use some more tweaking but it seems like everyone forgets that this game is still in very early access and is subject to ALOT of changes. it’s not a full release. Chill out.

Edit: how does the workbench level up? I don’t see a progression bar for it or anything, just keep crafting things?

People like to complain because they don't have any other hobbies. I've read some good and valid criticism, but I've seen way more angry entitled people/kids suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect. The only complaint I got is that the wolves howl 24/7 and that snowstorms wreck my FPS.

I like the stuff they added, and the stuff that you can do with it is limited by your own imagination. Toxicity is a hype it seems. Best not feed the trolls, that's how they get their dopamine rush. Deprive them and maybe they'll go away and make room for actual constructive criticism. There's probably way more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ people than one can imagine, and on forums like these the turds come afloat. Humanity still has yet to learn how to flush the internet.

99% of people that dislike things in the game just mod it away. And never write here too

I’m like 15 hours into the game.. (10 played, and 5 between afk, eating, or falling asleep in my chair)..

I haven’t even went for the first boss yet, I built my base next to his stone, hunting, crafting, making some gear and weapons to kick his a$$. So I haven’t even touched the tip of the iceberg and I’m having a blast. I haven’t enjoyed a game as much as I do this since world of Warcraft, which I played for like 15 years. I don’t know man, people shouldn’t think that updates or changes to a game in early access will be definite. The devs are listening, and considering everything. This game has the potential to beat AAA games with ease, despite being a small time company. can’t wait to see what the future of this game holds.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone makes a valid point.

Remember… early access….

Already this… they are listening come on fruit cakes relax.

The way I see it, you can't please everyone and as for as i know they sold 7-ish million copies? so there's bound to be a certain percentage who,

1. don't like the game and never did

2. got used to the game the way it was, and hate change, (and Iron Gate changed some things.)

3. are too impatient to wait for updates and fixes.

It's a vocal minority. Contrary to the whinging on the discussion page, the reviews and active player count hasn't budged.

90% approval rating in the steam store should tell the story.

There isn't that much have, look at the concurrent players, lots of us have used this new update as an excuse to pick up the game where we left it and play again.

One thing i've seen a lot though is that people expected more, this update is the first in like 6 months, and it barely adds anything.

But on the other hand, i found that the game was pretty massive and great before the update already, I'm not a fan of big changes in games, it's like you bought a product at some point and later on it's a completely different product, that's f u c.k e%d up.

In the crafting tab when you discover new material it will show upgrade furniture to build for your workbench or forge. They are denoted by a star on the picture as an upgrade piece and if you read the description it will say upgrade for workbench etc etc

Perhaps you should stay away from EA games then. I mean, sweeping changes is what EA games are about.

I see several things going on with the hate... The first thing I've noticed in these threads is people repeatedly saying to complainers "maybe you haven't tried working with the new food system enough". That to me is an important point, maybe Iron Gate should have explained everything better. Maybe people haven't. Maybe people won't. Maybe some people don't want to or aren't aware that it's a big deal now and suffer for it. Another miscommunication I think might be going on: is the complainer playing solo? Are the people having a great time playing multiplayer? No one makes that distinction and it seems to maybe matter. If you're the only one who is the focus of aggro from mobs it makes a difference. Then again, maybe there are solo players having a great time, idk, I'm just pointing it out. I also wonder how much a modded game might sometimes mess up the patch and give you broken spawns or wonky regen.

I found Valheim difficult solo before H&H, but I was cautious and patient and got up to Yagluth with only two instances of dying and putting the game down for the evening to cool off before my corpse run (voluntary quit before a ragequit). Old Vaheim was: eat foods and think about the daunting logistics of gathering/killing/expanding. New Valheim: Eat food, think about food every 10 minutes thereafter as I wrestle with gathering/killing/exploring. I feel like my vikingr went from having big rechargeable batteries to being on a long extension cord. The game is different. People are going to react to that in all the ways that there are different kinds of people. Cheers.
