i had allmost the same thoughts like the op:

for me a mp is not an option after ive gathered information about it
to much griefing actions
if you are up for mp gather some friends and enjoy the game with them

for me - the over 1k hours of gameplay are totally woth playing
and im looking forward to spend more time and enjoy the "magic" in even more single player gameplay hours

when you play on another pc server you ll have lag 1-5 seconds and enemies are more difficult. i usually play solo and i play with others to have fun or to build something special...

There is no getting around the fact that playing solo is the slowest way to play, and in a survival game you can expect slow. But if you decide it is too slow you have multiple approaches toward modding the game to make the progression more bearable.

I would rarely ever recommend using mods that would change the balance of a game on a first playthrough, so try it as is before you go ahead and do that.

I have been playing it solo for 40 hours (Only done 1 boss yet but could've done the 2nd one at like 10 hours because I am taking this game VERY slow) Having a blast though it would definitely be amazing in groups of 2 or 3 because it could be kinda frustrating to have to do all the building, resource gathering, exploring and combat all on your own.

I agree with the others, in singleplayer you can just mind your own business and the setup works really well for people that enjoy exploring the game for themselves. Don't spoil anything, throw yourself in deep water. Valheim is an experience, so don't let others ruin it for you :)

I've been playing for just over 100hrs solo (vanilla) and loving it.

The bronze age was a bit of a grind but after that I found things sped up in terms of iron which allows you to get kitted out in a fairly robust set of armour and weapons and opens up more building options.

I've no desire to play MP as I want it to be my world and done at my own pace. However others clearly like the MP aspect so I think it comes down to what sort of gamer you are; there is no right/wrong answer.

Literally, the first line of the game's description on the Store Page says, "A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players".

So, yes, you can play solo. For each player that logs in, the mobs get slightly tougher to compensate.

I play it solo since release. No intention to change it. Try it and decide it for yourself.

It's a sp game unless you decide to open your world for friends or strangers. There are also some with dedicated servers but you have to find them.. this game does not have good anti griefing stuff.

So that out of the way. I played 70% of the game solo until now. And I even prefer being alone. My coop friend mostly fights and dies.. eats everything away and cries when getting killed without him paying attention.

But if you think that the forest is boring alone... I guess you wouldnt find much enjoyment here solo. I mean.. here you grind... you fight.. you craft and build.. you prepare yourself for bosses and hard biomes... making your own adventures .. and thats it until you are done with the content the game provides.

I enjoy it solo and managed the first 4 bosses solo. Played coop a bit though. Not tried 5th yet. The benefit of multiple people is
- it’s even more fun
- it speeds it up (eg, someone can go off mining while someone does something else)

But it’s fine as a single player.

I have played both solo and co-op with friends. Co-op makes the game very easy and we blew through the biomes pretty fast. I like the pace and challenge of the game when solo a bit more. Co-op is still fun, I died plenty, but the death penalty isn't nearly as harsh when you have friends to lean on.

It's not the category of game it might look like at a glance. Valheim shares most of its DNA with Terraria.

Honestly, I would never play this game solo. The fun aspect for me is going through trials and accomplishing things together. That being said, I have no friends who play this so I convinced my girlfriend to try out playing games and got her to play Valheim and it was a great success for us both lol

Just get a girlfriend and get her to play Valheim. Problem solved

Same here, 3 worlds, all 5 bosses taken out solo, 1600+ hrs. Started a 4th world. No mods.
