Don't park them on top of enemy spawns (draugr villages for example) or they will for sure attack your boat.

Short answer:

Nothing wrong with the boats.

If they are destroyed, then there were monsters.

What you can do build a workbench, build a chest, build some palisades around. And destroy the boat on your own and take the stuff to the chest.
Mark this point on your card and if you come back build the boat again.

and it only take damage if you are near by

There is a knack to boat placement.

Exactly this. And leaving it in shallow water alone can be reason for it slowly going down.
A mere boar can and will pick a fight with your vessel if it sees an opportunity.
Proper vessel placement is a learned thing sometimes it takes some trial and error to figure out what it takes.
What biome have you been leaving your boat by? Cause thats important.

Ok a lot of you are treating the OP like they are dumb. There is a known bug where your boat takes random damage while sailing. I have had it only happen once, but seen plenty of people talk about it. Seems to be more common on multiplayer vs single player.

When the sea is strong and the waves are high and you are sailing under full sail, the boat will jump through the waves, of course it will be damaged. But you will see your boat change color so you know it has been damaged. You can sail ashore, build workbench and repair the boat.

To check the condition of the boat, pick up the hammer while sailing if you are unsure of how damaged the boat is.

They didn't patch out dev commands.

Maybe cuz the game isnt done yet and they are adding stuff so maybe on day u can. as far as boats getting distroyed what r u doing to where they take damage you can keep wood on u to make a bench and repair it by land

F5 dosnt work for some reason and i always work with the bench on my trips but it takes 10 dmg every 5 or 10 secends or so without getting attaked or having contact to the rocks

What happens when you press F5?

do u play on a laptop? have u installed mods? that can be the reason the F5 button dont work.
its not normal that u take dmg on the boat by just sailing without a attack. maybe a mod is the problem.

try Lecherous Lychee 🐸´s tip.
add the line in your start option of the game. start without mods and try F5 to open the console.

1. Don't park them on top of a bunch of rocks.
2. when you leave the boat make sure its repaired 100%
3. keep a hammer in your inventory or in the boats inventory when you go on voyages

As long as its repaired when i leave it i have no issues, they take very small amounts of damage from storms (similar to exposed building pieces) but it takes several storms ( a few hours of active gameplay) to actually destroy them.
