I think the consensus is you can't destroy them unless you cheat. You can build and bury fires, workbenches and / or stone palisades around them, but even that would be a temporary fix. Trolls can destroy stoneworks easily if they spawn or travel near them.

Nothing is cheating in this game unless you're going into someone's world and doing it without their permission.

A cheat is a cheat. You're not playing the game as it was designed. That is a cheat and has always been a cheat as long as I've been playing games.

Like... for 40 years.

Edit: Not that I'm saying you're not supposed to do that. You can do whatever you like to your game. But it is still a cheat if you remove the troll caves with devcommands.

There is no way to despawn/delete the caves/burial chambers.

Best bets: move onto a new island, build over them, or create a new world.

Or like many others you could design a build using them as highlights in your camp such as placing a portal or workbench just in front of the entrance to them.

Aside from paving over them with stonecutters, I doubt you can actually get rid of them.

How are they always on top? Build earthen walls around them, put down a stone floor.
