Ow! Ow! Ow! I made that same mistake. For me, 2 Star Fulings and Berserkers are the toughest there are after Yagluth.

My original tactic to best them was upgraded Padded armor with upgraded Black Metal shield and sword, Bonemass power, Lots of health and stamina potions. I'd shoot them using my Draugr Fang and needle arrows. I wouldn't go hand to hand until their HP were down 75%. Then swing madly. High bow skills were a plus later on.

Oh yeah, learning they were a brown color instead of green helped me spot them from far away and avoid them.

I went sailing in the longship solo during a storm thinking myself invincible. Well I wasn't and the sea capsized my boat crushed it and stranded me on a rock in the middle of the ocean.

Had to wait for my partner to build another boat and sail out to rescue me.... took 3 in game days.

Farming the firelands one night... then I decided to put a house there... but there were no trees! I explored the whole place looking for 1 tree

The only especially dumb mistakes I've made involves approaching enemies with not enough caution, before knowing how strong they really were.

Once was by wandering into the mountains while I was still in basic leather. This was very early into my experience, before I had figured out that every biome corresponded to a difficulty level. At the time I assumed the stat-climb of enemies and equipment would be far less steep across the board. After all how could a single wolf be more of a threat than a troll with a log, right?

Mountains, night time, snowstorm, was running, cliffs that emptied out on some Plains. Died 5 times. Still don't know what the hell was going through my head pulling such a n00b stunt. I can't even say I was drunk. Just pure brain dead stupid.

That was several months ago on my first world, I'm still kicking myself over it. Had to re-make ALL my armor and weapons. from Troll to Silver because I didn't mark my grave sites (pre H&H).

Oh, took me a game month to find 4 of my bodies, one is still out there...

I don't understand how this move is questionable. You explored and set up a portal. Sounds like a win to me.

I haven't touched land yet. I'm currently at sea when i load my save later tonight.

TangoBlue, your story is eerily similar to one of mine. Uneven terrain and a sudden onslaught of wolves got me nice and dead at the tippy top of a mountain. I made 3 failed runs to recover before i outright quit and started a new world and character.

Questionable moves ?
5th Boss.
Right next to summoning altar is a big A** fulling village on one side, a 3 Lox spawn on the other side.
Cleared the lox's and camp out first.
No idea how to fight the boss it took so long that the camp and lox's respawned ( after a few deaths )
Kited boss, fullings and lox's around the field only to back up into a Tar pit.

It took a while and many deaths but i made it.
