Speculation - What will the "Yagluth Thing" be used for?

What will it unlock? Will it even be called the "Yagluth Thing"?

Thoughts?

And yes, there should be an alternate track to get past the artificial gates raised by the bosses.

This is really a nice sandbox game with a vast world and it shouldn't be ruined by having to take pre-determined path.
And...what do you think that will do to length of time needed to get the next biome out? Whatever we've heard in the way of weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth about how long updates take will at least triple if the devs have to build in alternate paths. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice. I am saying it isn't feasible.

Add random chance to chest types in biome and next biome to drop the 'roadblock gadget'. Pretty much that and you have an alternate progression path, ideally selectable same as /no portals or /no map by player. Zero impact on normal game, naught but a dozen loot table modifications. An hour or two for coding, another hour for testing, done.

PS: The type of task you put on a newbie/intern/entry level programmer that you're bringing up to speed on the project.

What does it have to do with dev time? The way I understand the parent comment, all that's needed is for bosses to not be mandatory for progression. Which is already mostly the case with the exception of Moder.

I think this is right. If we consider Fuling to be minor fey, they kinda fall into the dwarf category of old norse mythos, as master smiths, hoarders, and power mongers.

If we bring the fantastic myth down to midgard, 'master smiths making weapons for the gods' becomes some magical technology that players can yoink from yagluth. So, the most likely is we get to make a new workbench using a Yagluth forehead or something.

As for dwarves hoarding riches and servants? It is possible, if improbable, that Valheim will add a piece of equipment (new belt or something?) that allows a variant of weight capacity or perhaps increases resources dropped.

Even less likely is the addition of NPC servants (Thralls). Let's entertain the idea: Yagluth thing becomes a command stone, that when added to a throne or some such, allows the player to summon a thrall to do their crafting. Plant/harvest crops, chop trees, defend base, travel with player, etc. Again, I think this is very unlikely albeit fun to imagine.

The last bit, dwarves as power mongers.. I don't have much speculation how this aspect could be added into game. So far, we have only seen damage (power) as a factor of equipment and skill, or powers as an ultimate ability from the stone circle. In the latter case, tick the box for Yagluth being a 'power monger' when we take their power.

Probably something to progress as someone already mentioned the crafting station, although might be used to create elemental weapons or whatnot as Yagluth has fire and lightning attacks and i'm pretty sure he drops multiple Yagluth "things". So, probably used in a similar fashion as the dragon's/ moders tear is used. I still have a strong feeling some sort of enchantments or whatnot will be added in some form.

But i hope it's also used to make unique weapons/armour in combination with ymir's flesh.

The yagluth poop will be used as a fertilizer for the new crops in mistlands and as a way to keep bunnies away from your farms.

Whatever it will be, it will be absolutely necessary for making use of the new upgrades and structures used to manufacture any and all new gear.
