What mods make this game fun?

Decent concept for a game, but poorly made/executed. Not fun to play for more than 10 minutes as it is.

Looking for mods that expand on content and provide much needed QoL.

The Epic Valheim pack has many nice mods you can take a look at. Extra strong enemies. Enemies, bosses and progression for ALL biomes, Diablo-like equipments and enchanting, Haldor the merchant giving you bounty hunts and selling treasure maps. And more.

Here is a mod list i use. Many QOL. Some are structure/ mod dev things. You can implement these in under an hour with minimal effort, though you said you've modded before so shouldn't be an issue
Advize plant everything- as it says. You can plant berries and many other things, and adjust trees (especially oaks) to drop more seeds. You can also adjust grow times. Pay attention to the units used in the numbers. Some are minutes, some sec.
Craftfromcontainers- you can set a distance, like 100, 200, 400m to pull ingredients for all recipes.
Equipmentandquickslots- gives you a set of inventory spaces for gear. Its useful so every bone fragment or pukeberry you pickup doesnt make you have to readjust
******edit: If you disable or uninstall this you WILL lose the items in the extra slots. This has only happened once to me when valheim updated and i uninstalled my mods to troubleshoot. the problem was self induced and no problems otherwise**
Floatingitems- this makes items which dont normally float, like metal, float on water. This is important because if deer are swimming away or you build a base near water, it would suck to lose your stuff. It also enables single player hunting of a monster which is normally a team effort.
Heightmap unlimited- lets you go beyond normal raising/lowering heights for terrain. Useful for getting yourself killed and for making proper canals and raised castles
Passiveforsakenpowers- as it says. Possible balance issue with this because one of the buffs is a combat buff, but the other noncombat ones are insanely useful.
Speedypaths- this makes stone and and dirt paths give you a speed boost, incentivizing roads for more than aesthetics
Useequipmentinwater- Graydwarf can throw stones at you when they swim, why shouldnt you? Also helps when digging trenches.
Valheimshipexploration- widens ship fog of war scouting radius, takes a minute or two of fiddling with the numbers. When done you can explore and outline islands without dodging shallows and rocks pretty much as far as you can see.
Epicloot by randyknapp--387: makes equipment have additional effects. Possible balance issues, i only tried it briefly but if you want more incentive to slay the hordes of the tenth world maybe it will help you. I disabled it with no issues to my saves when i stopped using it
--------------------------------
Structure/needed dev mods
Configuration manager
bepinex-
Jotunn
Valheimdisplaybepinexinfo
"hookgen"?- i dont remember, it might be needed for heightmap

As always try to read authors' descriptions and backup things, but you know this

Hey there,

please remember that as of now modding is not officially supported. It's done at your own risk, there are no guarantees for future compatibility. Please keep backups of your save files before you start modding. If you need technical support, please always include a full list of active AND prior mods, since that can influence the game's behaviour with regard to bugs.

Have a good day!

Honestly if you're not enjoying vanilla. . .I doubt mods are really going to help that experience.

I played a good 50 hours to get the feel of the game before looking to mods just so I could learn what the game's base parameters were. If you're not finding enjoyment with those base parameters I'm not sure that mods that expand the game would do anything more than frustrate you. . .however.

A few QoL mods:

Item Stacks: Allows you to carry more items and adjusts their weight accordingly. Configurable to find a good balance if you prefer (I personally just the default settings).

Unrestricted Portals: Does it says, removes the restriction on ore/metal for portals, configurable to any degree you want.

A lot of people recommend Valhiem Plus: I haven't used it so I can't speak to it.

Farm Grid: Just helps lay out plantables in an easy grid (and helps things look nice)

EquipmentandQuickSlots: Give you three quick slots independent of your hot bar and a set of slots for your wearables to save up on a little bit of space

There are plenty of others for crafting, adding build pieces. . .those are my personal staples

If you don't think this game is fun as it is, find another game. There is no hope for you. Mods won't help.

Okay but I don't like the lack of content and QoL features. I also don't like vanilla Terraria or Minecraft but play them modded, and I wouldn't replay any Bethesda game without a hefty mod folder.

Mods can definitely help when the game is basically barebones and begging for good updates, something I've heard the modding community is doing since the devs aren't.

If you have only played for ten minutes you have no idea about the content of this game and no clue how to play it.

It's a figure of speech, braniac, and more in reference to replaying it.

I could have said that I only have 45 hours in this bland game and already have the best gear, beat every boss available, built a massive base with my buddies, and have a storage room full of supplies on a world none of us have had any interest in touching since launch. But all that's a bit of a mouthful and the mods and fangirls cry when you explain why you don't like the current state of the game.

If you're asking a serious question, you could take a look at the other mod thread, a few posts down, that was asked by someone with more refined communications skill.

I'd suggest maybe taking a break and coming to check back with the game in a little while if you're not enjoying the current state of it.

Remember, this game is still early access. They haven't even finished adding all the biomes, let alone really zoning in QoL features and really polishing things up. I've never felt the need for mods apart from some armour slots and dealing with incessant wolf howls, but apart from that I think the game is pretty good if you enjoy doing building and gathering.

Honestly, I'm really not seeing the poorly made/executed part of your post. I've played quite a few survival games in EA and this is one that was pretty darn good from the start. There's stuff I'm not happy about for sure, but they clearly listen to their fan base as I've seen quite a few changes implemented, so I'm sure things will get nicely polished eventually.

Yeah but you're asking "What mods MAKE this game fun" as in, its not fun as is. Adding a bunch of mods isn't going to make it fun if you don't like whats there already. Thats not quite the same with Bethesda games as there's usually a substantial amount of content in there.
