should i set up a new base in mistlands? and where?
ive just almost finished my new base in the plains and i wanted to make it my main base of operation.
but now i ventured into the mistlands and i feel like i need to set up a new base... but where? directly inside the mistlands biome, or on the border to another biome near to the mistlands? should i make this a new main base or is it not a good idea?

Thanks for the answers, i already found a nice location and i am on my way with all the metals on a ship.
I will take an abandoned structure in the mistlands and build from there.
Hopefully this will be the last mainbase setup... until ashlands... and then until ...

Don't forget to craft a 'ward' to keep the damage to a minimum. Expect to lose the awesome Dvgr front door...don't forget to repair the entire structure first!

doh, copper & iron are easy in the ML, only a little black metal is needed, unless you plan to make a large home with everything. Most ML are near plains so you can usually just portal a smelter over and get going from that in short order. Smelter lets you drop a stonecutter and fix the place. If its a main base, yea, haul stuff over.
the ruins/towers/etc are not big enough for a full base. You may prefer a clearing.

yea, i found a nice spot with plains nearby and a really big mistlands island, also i will not settle down directly on the main insland, i found a small mistlands island right in front of the big island.
I will build an ocean island base, the biome is still mistlands there and it is big enough for a full base, and by ship i will explore the nearby big-mistland-island and plains to get black metal.

I thought wards didn't stop damage? The first result from Google states:
"It does not provide any damage reduction against creatures, players or rain."
I too, am considering a base in the Mistlands, but those who've been there know there are some pretty destructive creatures (nightmare fuel) that make an extensive base seem like a fragile solution.

You need a small farmland if you want to grow the new crops, access to fishing hole if you want the new fish food, and access to 3-4 of those pulsing root things.
Other than that, its mandatory that you build inside, around, or something, one of the big skulls.

The only thing you need is an abandoned Dwarven structure or one of the abandoned towers.. I have a small farm enough for about 30 puffs, and then 2 sap extractors rotating on 3 roots in the immediate area. That's all you really need as far as a base is concerned.

Set up shop in the citadel exterior. You'll know it when you find it.

There are areas with little mist and relatively flat areas bordering deep water canals, it is recommended you build a full time base in the Mistlands, especially if you plan on using Eitr based weapons and you can farm ingredients for Salad.
Enemy spawns are rare so the biome is very peaceful with Hares running around as a decent food source, you can also eat seeker meat with iron widely available from ancient giant weapons and sources of copper in Dvergr ruins.
