Please help: FPS drops make it unplayable (9 FPS)

My specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 3550H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.10 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
RAM 16.0 GB
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Issue:
Bought this game today as I heard a lot about it. However, the FPS drops make it unplayable. I literally just spawned and am exploring how to move around, and the FPS keeps dropping to like 9 FPS every minute or so. Looked online and have tried every possible solution including:

* updating windows
* updating drivers
* disabling windows 10 game mode
* editing the boot.config file with gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1 and gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1
* typing "-window-mode exclusive" in the launch options in Steam
* making sure Vsync is unchecked
* running program as administrator
* making valheim "high priority" in task manager
* literally setting every single graphics option to "low" or "off"
* running the game at 900 instead of 1080

Nothing has helped. No matter what I do, within 30 seconds to a minute of walking around, the FPS will drop to 15 and then to 9 or some ridiculously low number. The game is unplayable for me. I've exhausted a total around 1.5 hours of game time trying out all these solutions, so unless I can get it to run smoothly, my best option will be to ask for a refund before I exceed 2 hours of playtime.

I tried out some other games on the same computer (Warframe, Saints Row: the Third and Assassin's Creed II) and they all run smoothly. Valheim is the only game giving me issues. Any suggestions on what I can do, or should I just refund.

No need to run the game in administrator mode, this won't give it more resources. Not sure why this keeps coming up. More permissions is not equal to more resources.

But that's just an aside. So you say, your FPS drops to like 9 FPS, but you didn't specify how long it will stay there.

The game is not that optimized and FPS will tank sometimes for a very short moment. The FPS will tank very hard, whenever the game is performing a world save, but you can see this is happening because the game is telling you in the upper left corner.

Can you please verify if it is indeed the world save or just the usual micro stutters?

It stays at 9 FPS for about 5 seconds. It happens around once every minute. It has nothing to do with a world save... I have literally just spawned and am just walking around after talking to the raven for the first time.

There is a mod that lets you edit the cfg of the game to allow for more memory to the texture memory.
Do a search for customgraphicssettings... it should have a cfg from a modder and a metion of BeInEx that you will also need, then you can allow for more vram to stream textures, amongst other hidden settings.

Unfortunately game seems to have some optimization issues. Even on a more powerful hardware momentary frame drops seem to be happening. I get these now and then, maybe not as extreme as you describe though.

Yeah, I can deal with the occasional frame drop, but this does seem a little too extreme.

Thanks. Not sure if it's a texture issue though... as I said, I have the same problem even when I run all textures as low. I might try it out in the 30 minutes of playtime I still have before refunding. It sucks that there's no way to fix this short of modding the game :(

Hi... no, it's just while walking around.
