i agree with Pakanohida, running back and for was a pain in the ass, borring as hell, five times i went for my gear, died every time, had to get though a boat, spent ages waitint for wind only to be sunk by a ell. A bloody good game only to find it MONOTONOUS.

If the problem is monotony, don't keep doing things the same way. Take a step back, work on something else for a while, think of different approaches to the problem, bring help.

I spent most of yesterday sneaking between monsters and blizzards in a wolf cape and my underpants to recover my idiot corpse from a mountaintop wolf ambush I'd rushed into with too much confidence and not enough lunch. The victory makes it all worthwhile.

Search for any sort of beginner guide on YouTube to help you out if you are struggling with the game.

yes it can be tough at starting.
Either co op with friend till you get the grips of it and did you know you can log out go back to your single play with all inventory and weapons you have on you.
You retain them .

eat food, make and improve your gear, run away if you fall under half health. Use honey to heal up when you run/ evade attacks. Use a shield to block attacks. Use a bow to soften things up first or kill a few of a group. Do not die. Run, exploit terrain, enter a cave/tomb, whatever, but avoid death at all costs as it is a huge pain. Take it slow ... there is no reason to rush to a harder area before your gear is upgraded and you have a good amount of quality food, arrows, etc.

Don't die so much.

Survival / Crafting based games are not for the impatient or unimaginative.

got all things going ok, think the game is best so far, lost my patient with this running running about but dont know where, so i just found it on Utube. OWCH.

Something get you killed? Don't do it again. You should of picked this up in 123 hours of play. 99% of deaths in Valheim are easily avoidable. If you've spent 123 hours figuratively sticking your hand in a fire, getting burnt, then going right back and sticking your hand back in the fire, I dunno that anyone can help you.

i had no idea that you needed obserdine to get to the next level, so i died in the snow, half way up a hill first time round, got it all back therd time round, second time i made all may gear before i tryed, what pissed me off was, the run to get there? but in my madness i found, i only need one porthole in my bass that will connect to all, and giants dont attack wood steps? the flit axe hits twice with less stam on knock back than all the rest? what i dont want to do is go on utube to find things out, or is that part of the game???

To be fair to the OP, it might take more than that... The number of misleading posts by 100 hour+ "experienced newbies" who don't understand the game mechanics (and as a random example incorrectly claim Froster is superior in all ways to the black metal weapons) proves this.

And some people just take it slow: for example the first 50 hours or so I just messed around building big bases in different biomes. Then I went and killed Elkheim. Then I went exploring. It was only after a hundred hours or so that I researched, explored, tested and learned the game mechanics in more detail. Prior to that I was just playing the game and having fun.

It'll be fine. Take it easy and learn from mistakes. And yes, if you get stuck read up on it. A quick look on the WIKI or YouTube is fine if things get fustrating. But suggest avoiding too much research as it ruins the fun of discovering it for yourself.

I've been playing this game for weeks now and never went to YouTube or the Wiki for anything until after I mastered something and just wanted some additional information to round out my experience.

I prefer games that don't hold my hand and make progression so linear that it gets silly. The game requires exploration and investigation. It took me quite some time to figure out how to build a Karve because making one of the components was required before I could get the recipe. That was different than most other items. But that was the biggest curve that the game has thrown at me.

IDK what's actually wrong on your end, but Hugin gave me enough tips to have a great time in this game.
