One way of avoiding raids is to use a different seed for each boss. It's a long way round as you will need to explore each seed for the required boss. However, you can just have the needed resources in your inventory to build a boat when you log in. I have my main base where I build, on a seed where I haven't killed any boss. I have another seed where I hang each trophy, with a very basic base that I don't care about and is close to the stones. Then if I want to have that power, I log out and into that seed, get the power and log back out and into my base building world. So, when I fought Moder, there was no chance of an event because no boss had been killed on that world. I do the same for each metal resource, so one world for copper, another for iron and so on. Some might consider it cheating and in some ways it is, but it makes life much easier.

Same thing happened to me while fighting moder - you are being hunted - doesn't matter if there's a work bench or not.. the balance in Valheim is gone. Monsters should have stamina like the players and would provide a unique game play. Finding the game frustrating, as example: log troll swing the log over and over, but i have to manage my stamina.. There is no BALANCE ATM...

Devs need to provide the users better tools to increase / decrease or simply turn some random events off entirely. It's OUR user experience that matters so I truly understand the OP.

Speaking of Troll raids, if no Troll dies prior to BF Boss kill on a world, does the Troll raid event still occur?

Valheim is not getting more unbalanced that I have seen. Randomness is random, and its only pseudo-random anyway.

I think the appropriate response here would have been to withdraw through your portal and fight the event somewhere else, since that one happens anywhere and will keep happening (and eventually finish) even if you leave the leave the event area.

Raids will happen. It is very bad luck in your case. But that's why it is so important to have a portal nearby. It is also important to clear out any adds in the vicinity of the fight and your portal BEFORE the fight.

Though you should not have gotten a bat event. That tells me you've built up an entire base there (or what Valheim considers one). There should be no need for that, if you have a portal not too far away.

Trust me, I had pretty bad luck with almost continuous Troll raids recently. They've taught me to hate Trolls again... :P

I mean, I had a few Draugr raids while I was taming my 1 star wolves, but the pen I made was strong enough to contain them. Have had little issue with other raids.

As for things spawning during a boss fight, sounds like you just needed to remove the workbenches you made to prepare. Can't have a raid if there's no base there to be raided. Does seem unlucky, but I've not faced these issues myself. Honestly, I haven't had a single thing broken by raids yet.

I think the worst thing I had happen was when a serpent broke my boat while I was fishing in the ocean and I got stranded on a turtle's back while my co-op friend had to fight off a Draugr raid solo. He'd not had food up so his HP was low and he got camped for awhile. I could just sit there and fish off the turtle and wait for rescue. I suppose the base took damage then and our 1 star boars all died, but we shortly replaced them with 2 star boars anyhow.

Does just seem like bad luck.

The "You are being hunted..." event does not need a base and is an unfortunate setback to what seemed like a great Moder battle.

Except in the case of the "You are being hunted..." event. No nearby base items are required to trigger that one.

so i gear back up. get my backup armor set, potions, food, etc. ready to kill it. portal to the base. moder is on my butt asap. i am headed to the body. another golem, 3 wolves on the way. get to my body, 2 more wolves. moder on my ass the whole time. "you stir the cauldron" I"m no where near a building.....why is this event here? it's been about 20min (in game after i calmed down) minutes since the last event. This is not random. This is elden ring envy. i'm starting to wonder if my world seed is ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Yup, sometimes random stuff happens when it is least convenient.

I just got my garden going at my Black Forest base. Had started some turnips I sniped from a swamp edge. Planted 15 fresh turnips when a stupid Greydwarf Shaman snuck up behind me and cast his poison. Killed all 15 starts, my whole turnip farm. =/

Luckily, I had the foresight to not put all my eggs in one basket and had started a few at my old Meadows base as well. Took some extra cycles, but I recovered.

Played a few times before the Mistlands update, managed to kill the bosses solo twice now. My experience taught me these rules:

1. Rule #1 of Valheim: You must, must, MUST, keep up with armour, food and weapon requirements for each respective biome. If you do not, your life will be FULL OF PAIN AND SUFFERING. The game is absolutely unforgiving in that regard. Especially when you face 2-star opponents.

2. Build your base on a semi-island, where most of the landmass is surrounded by water. Seal off the base enterance with a moat, and make sure the enemies can't swim around and flank you either. A water-surrounded elevated landmass works best, this will protect you from most mobs except for drake events ('A cold wind blows from the mountains...'). Be sure to spread enough worktables to cover the whole landmass to prevent enemies from spawning.

3. Experiment with new stuff: Discover a new ore? See what you can do with it. Discover a new plant? Find some seeds? Plant them, harvest them and see what recipes are unlocked. These discoveries may be vital in keeping up with Rule #1.

4. Experiments with mods. Despite the game still being in Early Access, there is a significant number of mods for it (Eg. NexusMods). These can alter your gaming experience significantly, starting with new building objects and finishing with game mechanics configuration (Eg. There is a planting mod that allows you to plant most mushrooms/plants/trees).

That is totally insane. There was a post on here a little while back that had a very similar thing happen during their Moder fight too. Being hunted during a boss fight is maybe the worst of all the bummer things that can happen in this game. an event has a 20% chance to happen every 46 in game minutes. I feel like the bats and wolves should have their chances cut in half. For me, the biggest bummer is not wanting to spend too much time building or just being at home for fear of not having a good food situation at that moment. I'm not gonna eat my good food just because the wolves might wanna play.
