Very frustrating (Mistlands)
I'm a very big fan of this game and was really looking forward to the Mistlands update. I've seen a lot of content creators really liking it, but my experience so far as a solo player has been very frustrating.
I have hundreds of hours in this game, so I was equipped with all the upgraded, best gear I could get. The first thing that I found frustrating was the mist. Even though you can equip the Wisplight, it's still very hard to make out the landscape around you. And the landscape is full of big cliffs that will take a lot of stamina if you have to climb over them (because of the mist I can't see if there's an easier way around them).
Then there are the seekers. The normal ones are not that tough, even though they come in small groups most of the time, but the 1-star variants and the soldier seekers are very tough, especially when they gang up on you. And there's almost no chance to run away and shake them off, because they are fast and can keep up and follow you, even on the cliffs because they can fly. Until you run out of stamina because of all the climbing and blocking and rolling and you die.
So I figured out the first must-have power is the Bonemass power. At least for a few minutes you can take some of their hits and tank through them.
Normally when I died in Valheim I could get frustrated when I knew I had to backtrack and lost progress, but usually I could see it was my own fault. But now I already had many times it really felt unfair, and there was nothing I could've done to prevent death. And then to somehow make my way back to that place as a naked man (withouth a Wisplight) is just a suicide run.
I hate cheating, even in solo-player games. But I already thought about cheating more in Valheim since this update than in my hundreds of hours before it. I don't think that's a good sign.

yeah this update feels really ruff around the edges, can´t bring myself to play It. Atleast I don´t go to the mistlands until they fix/patch It. They can´t tell me how to play the game and at this point it seems like I should gather 40 other players just to kill 2-3 seekers.

Sounds like just fixing the visibility and view distance would solve most of the issues. I'm sure the devs have already gotten the message.

That's what happens when you get to comfortable.
We got 2 years with the best stuff and no challenge anymore, and it's now hard to adjust to the first difficulty ;)

yeah I agree, the mist is way too misty to be any fun. It's a cool concept on paper, but the execution in a video game is not that great. I was worried about what would have to be done to get all your crap back if you happen to die in the mistlands, especially if you're a solo player, and right now the best thing I can think of is making a second set of armor and weapons at max value.
When my friends and I were approaching the mistlands, we thought the mist would be a veil from the outside and it would be easier to see the further we got in, but that wasn't the case. In some places it's easier to see, but only a short distance and you still can't tell what the hell is making that noise.
I'm not gonna lie, I want to be able to see the landscape. It's already a pain in the butt to find out how to get into the mistlands because the terrain just happens to go vertical and you cannot figure out where to go. And when you finally get there, the biome looks so pretty, but you can't see enough of it.

It's tough playing solo. I place portals as I go so I don't have to walk ALL the way back. You need a second set of maxed out armor and weapons to get your body back. The mist is too extreme. i wandered around a large Mistlands area for several hours and only found one Infested Mine. Is that because I couldn't see or because there is only one in the entire area? I don't know, but it wasn't fun and I could not make progress for several hours because I could not find the mines. This is a test mode, so it can change, but in its current state, Mistlands is more grind than fun. Maybe that will change when I get more cores, but how long will that take?? Good luck!

The Mist torches are helpful. But they only dissipate mist at ground level, and they become an immediate target for all creatures in the area to destroy. So you spend more time maintaining them. I feel instead of the torches, they should build in stationary indestructible wisp fountains that you can refill. Maybe 1 Wisp gives you 10 mins of coverage. And it would clear the mist in a larger area, ground to sky, for a short period. This way you still need to catch the wisp but not building hundreds of torches that do not last. Mistlands is a scary beautiful biome and I'm enjoying all the new additions. If they mist was modified it would be a great biome.

Who goes out exploring without a portal ? I always ALWAYS carry enough wood for a workbench and a portal while having 2x 50 stacks of wood on the ship for quick building if needed when I go venturing into new territory. Most new locations get a small hut with a bed as a respawn point as well.

yeah I would build a small camp nearby in a safer place and keep a second pair of armor and weapons ready to explore any new area.

The mist is TOOOOOOO extreme. Its downright silly. The mistlight only showing up a literal sword swing distance is a joke and as you just said forget it if its a corpse run. Mistlight should light up to FULL view distance. Make it dark if you must but until this is changed I am ignoring the game. Yes i am playing solo and its likely balanced for 10 players........... but if I can have near to no problems like the OP said, say for my own screw ups, all the way upto Mistlands but then its just WAYYYY out of balance and too unforgiving.
