Iron Pickaxe vs the Bronze Pickaxe

Iron Pickaxe vs the Bronze Pickaxe

Maybe its that im playing VR this time that I noticed this and/or Maybe its just A VR mod bug.

Its my third Serious play through and first time in VR totally. Im working on My new base on my second Island. Need that Iron. I started Making a trail to the swam using a cart to grab all the Copper and tin wood and rock for the new house (trying to be efficient)

I figured its time to go up the mountain once as I fight way better in VR so the wolves are doable, I get to the Obsidian and OH Ya need an iron Pickaxe, So back I go and trade my level 2 bronze one in and make a level two Iron one, thinking right on this will work better.

Long story short I go back to work on the trail as I need more rock to shape in a docking spot for the new boat. I have to go into hide to hit the ground. But im used to it and play seated. Leaches needed and Iron sword to reliably hit or a bronze agitar. I could not hit them without going into sneak with the bronze sword or Iron mace. (other things that have changed how I play since VR) reach is important.

Now im real close to the ground trying to cut through a small hill and Dam its taking forever to drop down, Maybe I just got to swing harder - NO - Lean over and reach down farther - No - Its almost like the dam hoe but its dropping down but taking a long time.

So I go back to the house grab the bronze pickaxe and find a level area, I dug 3 holes with each one, Im right there close to the ground in VR and I see the bronze one has a bonus verse ground or the iron one has a penalty vs ground

It is but it took some tweeks in the mods options to get it working nice - There is many options in there. I took the follow head of so once you pick forward and have turned in you chair forward is of to the side - you get used to it and learn to keep your head planted or keep your self aligned with the hud, If you get to wacked out a simple cover your face (like peek a boo) tells the game that the way you are looking registers as strait forward

I found strait off the yards to all my houses are actually smaller than you think.

I had to Set Block to grip button rather than gesture to accurately block and do knock backs.

I set touch to swing rather than swing as I could not hit a pig when set to swing with touch I still swing but I only need to touch for the game to resister I swing, kind of a perk but I also can not turn near as fast as you can with mouse and can not see behind me like you can and the IA just loves to flank you.

You can path find better I find as your right there but slight move of the thum stick can make a useful drift without changing forward movement and using a stick you can control forward speed when walking so you can creep real slow forward if you wish

being able to look around while your running and or walking is nice. The Boats are HUGE LOL

The mini map is on your arm Hold right grip and push right stick forward or back zooms - a zoomable mini map

The map, special power button, sit, are on your left arm Press a hold a button on your right arm touch the icon on your lef and let go The map is like a theater screen

on your right arm there are buttons. works the same as you left arm but these will be the first three things in you inventory (not armour) so put your potions or what ever there and its like three more weapon slots So another bunus

Once its set up it just works - The bow took a little work especially backing up running and not fighting trolls and giant trees, Now I melee and I are looking up - they are tall LOL

The dungeons (Crypts are awesome) with touch for swing comes the issue of keep your weapon from touching the walls as it counts as a hit and damage to weapon or house. You hit it - you hit it.

th agitar(spelling I know) is good for poking through holes and swinging at things around a corner, You know the guck in the Crypt you partially broke trough that has grugers behind - easy to poke but the bone pile they spawn from requires a reach - you cant just run forward point a cross hair at it and press a mouse button. You have to have reach its on the floor. LOL

its actually pretty good , Least its a long game with lots to do, Many games in VR won't give you a long play before you are done, This Huge world and hundreds of hours With much to do and see - Just set it up.

Also ATM you need to run the last stable version of the game as the patch broke many mods - I hear the guy is working on a fix for this mod

"Leaches needed and Iron sword to reliably hit or a bronze agitar."
No, leaches need a spear. Even a flint one is better, thou fang easily oneshots them.

Havent seen difference in pickaxe "damage to ground" but usually the best tool if you are going to do a lot of landscaping could be antlers. Easily repairable (workbench) and the least stamina usage. So Bronze vs Iron is probably the same, stamina difference.

Similar with Axes, Bronze axe is the best one for chopping wood. Period. (with random exceptions baded around skill levels).

I tried A spear before the agitar Maybe its a throw VS a swing thing for me (remember VR) The iron sword is longer than the bronze. And the Agitar I can reach bottom in most case.

If I try and crouch to much in the chair the ground moves (dat sucks) so its sneak and then I clan lean a fair amount and all is good - the leaches are hard to even do that as they are in the water and sneak more than not auto puts your weapon away.

I never tried throwing the spear I did try it for range and it did not work out well. Turns out I love the agitar in VR and preferred the Mace in pancake, Though my last playthrough was sword. IN VR it turns out im Mace, sword, agitar, Bow this run all pretty evenly levelled to boot, VR had a big game style change. I might pull the spear out and try a few throws but honestly at 60 years young a quick wrist flick beats a throw.
