Does the battleaxe count as a woodchopping axe?

Im debating wether to get a regular iron axe or a battleaxe. But does it work as well when cutting trees or will it do much less damage than the regular axe?

The Battleaxe does chop damage in addition to its regular slash damage.
Chop damage is basically the stat used when attacking trees. Therefore battleaxe can be used against trees. However one-handed axes are still better for it.

Yeah I think you can fell a tree with a lot of different weapons. But the wood cutting stat is independent of the axe skill. *Edit - But still only applies to the 1h axes as far as i'm aware.

Not as good at chopping trees, and a pretty bad weapon overall. Stick with the regular one.
