I mean, it's not like I need more troll hide but ... ;-)

Well, this is the 10th world after all. It's all one big & beautiful illusion.

the enemies from events despawn after the event and i kind of get why, especially for weaker players. It'd be good if you had X tier gear they no longer despawn that way you could indeed tame the incoming wolf packs.

Same happened to me..

Maybe they are meant to despawn, who knows?

All the event mobs despawn at the end of the event unless within close proximity to the player.

actually not all the mobs despawn. I witnessed two wolves were left after the event, while the rest despawned. In the several events that I witnessed, most indeed despawned.
