The Edge Of The Map Should Be Less Punishing
I know a lot of people are gonna rush in to defend the choice and say that I'm just whining or that it is "just a game" but a friend and I just lost all of our fully upgraded gear for being curious about how they walled the game. Almost 40 hours of grind just *fwoop* gone completely.
If you die from going over the edge: Your death marker should appear NEAR where you died. This is a game about exploration that promotes curiosity; the fact that the punishment is so much harsher than you get anywhere else in the game for something that you get 0 warning for was honestly enough for us to stop playing.
I also don't care to hear about how I can cheat to get my stuff back. I hate cheating in games even when I disagree with a dev choice. The main problem here is that the punishment does not match the crime IMO.
I left a positive review for the game but I am probably done playing after having had that experience.

Nah, the edge of the world is perfect, there is plenty of warning before you go over the falls.

Yeah, amazing how there are always people jumping in to defend this stuff. I think part of the problem is that the game is highly inconsistent in how punishing it is. It feels like death doesn't matter at all most of the time, but in some situations it's brutal.
I've played games with permadeath, but at least in those games, you know what you're getting and it's always the same. Valheim is cartoonishly easy and forgiving, until it's not.
