WTF is the deal with wolves

Seriously. 2 meats and a honey, upgraded brass armor, 1 Wolf can one shot me every time. As soon as I turn my back to the mountain near me to attack a greydwarf nonsense, a wolf literally runs up and wrecks me from behind. Almost without fail, as soon as my back is turned...Wolf Death. I have de-skilled so far. This game should be renamed Run-back-to-your-corpse-to-get-your-gear.

Honestly, I could see this being fun in a group but as a solo gamer it's awful. On a solo game, give us the option to retain gear on death and still take the deskill penalty like normal.

I've played 25.7 hours and am still waiting for the fun to begin. Where's the fun?

Wolves are in fact our friends. You need to change your approach and come at them with Stockholm Syndrome in place of blades.

Seriously, easy access to wolves at low level is a major quality of life upgrade if you can bait a pair into a pit.

That or just jump onto a high rock. Out of character as it seems, wolves cannot currently jump.

A girl in my group did this. I thought she had more chutzpah than sense, so I just laughed at the idea. She did this in troll armor, before even touching swamp! Now she has a wolf army that guards our base. Granted, they're 0 star wolves, so a few die every draugr attack, but damn, are they helpful.

No. I'm not lying. I'm one of those players that over-prepares for bosses/new biomes. And I figured out how to boost my stats quickly, so I was pretty OP most of the game.
Also, calling someone a liar when you have no proof that they're lying is what my generation calls "being a ♥♥♥♥."
Don't be a ♥♥♥♥. There are better gamers out there than you. I happen to be one of them. Don't be jealous. Work to improve your own gaming, instead.

Nope. Solo from start to finish. I'm an old gamer, and so I'm not a stupid gamer. I never take unnecessary risks. Really helps when it comes to survival games.

I'm playing solo, too, and having a wonderful time. I've died a lot, but it's because I try stupid things, like mining copper within half a click of the plains.

Those plains mobs have no respect for boundaries.

I've played almost exclusively solo with little issue. Perhaps change your tactics.

yeah you do not wanna go into the mountains with that kind of armor. At the least, you'll want iron armor, which isn't going to help much at all but you can have an Ox cape and not get cold, wolves are a pain but I'd rather have them than Rock golems.

I typically don't spend much time in the mountain biome

Your first problem is self-inflicted. You're too close to the mountain biome while only having bronze armor.
Your second problem is also self-inflicted. You're using meat and honey for food? Having bronze armor, you should be using Queen's Jam, Deer Stew, and Carrot Soup as those are the 3 best foods for your stage of the game. They provide the best HP and Stamina for Black Forest stage of the game.
Make a cauldron. Make better food. Don't go near the mountain biome until you've cleared Black Forest and Swamp.
Problems solved.
I played and beat the game solo with maybe 3 deaths my first time.
This time I'm up to Swamp with zero deaths solo.
This game is not that hard solo. And it's tons of fun.

This game is a mix of survival and dark souls. If you suck at both, then you'll have a bad time. It is best to be over-prepare than under-prepared.

Too early for the mountains. Do the swamps first.
Wolves are in fact the most dangerous enemy in the mountains, because you often don't see them coming. A special problem is that they may attack from a different height. If they are lower or higher you can't hit them.
When travelling in the mountains I always carry a shield. Parry the first attack, be on the same level as the wolf and you will always win. Listen when travelling (no music or TV in the background); you will always hear them when they are near. Be very careful if there are two or more.

That or just jump onto a high rock. Out of character as it seems, wolves cannot currently jump.

yup, thats the best way to deal with them... even with you are being hunted event.
I remember my first time in mountains biome... i wasnt ready for it and was one-shot killed by a wolf. For a long time after that my tactic was to run from one rock to another, recover stamina and find a new rock to climb :)

First
Dont go to the mountain when you have any deal to do there
You are in bronze tier bro , 2nd biome stage , and mountain in the 4th , with first stage food , so you are all wrong in this post , not rush in your game first
Meadows > black forest > ocean/swamp > mountain > plains
Remember that , mobs in this game have different handycap , one wolf or goblin will crush you if you are in black forest ...
