This is a very wise move on your part. Congrats on learning and adapting your play style

Its part of a procedural map generator, it doesn't garentee a good map just a unique one... I use the map generator on the internet to make me a good map... some maps dont even have all the bosses.

I had a seed where bonemass was ridiculously far away. While sailing there it was multiple plains biome's as I skirted the cost (as well as swamp, etc.), deathsquitos flying out... was quite the adventure. I should have looked for one of the other ones instead, haha. But managed it and setup a portal in a broken down tower, which I later fixed up. It is harsh but that kind of stuff is memorable.

you should be able to at least run through a plains biome with iron armor and good food, nothing will 1 shot you and you can probably outrun everything except for a deathsquito which you can block with an iron buckler

enemy spawning in the plains is actually on the lower end compared to most biomes and thus you’ll probably only encounter a few mobs anyway

I don't see that Bonemass is behind plains. You haven't explored that part yet. I'm pretty sure you can just waltz in with your boat and all is fine.

Remember: Swamps are always close to water.

Fully upgraded iron armor is about as good as silver armor baseline and you should be able to handle plains mobs somewhat alright with that. If not, I’d recommend just heading up into mountains and searching mountain tops for silver. You won’t be able to find all the nodes, but it isn’t too hard to get silver without the wishbone. My buddy and I had close to 300 silver pre-bonemass and had two more nodes marked but not mined still to hit. We only searched three mountains.

Just skip him for a bit and get yourself some silver gear. The Frostner hammer is probably the best weapon for fighting bonemass anyway.

Which is absolutely fine, but you should still have easy access by boat to the swamps where Bonemass is located. Who knows, maybe this swamp borders on the farside to a Meadows or Black Forest?

Edit: TBH, the northern spawn point from Bonemass does not look at all to be blocked by plains. I would go there and check it out.

It's a bad seed if you don't enjoy playing on it. If Bonemass is behind a plains biome and that creates an amazing adventure you enjoy with challenges you enjoy to overcome then it's a great seed. Exploring more to find a better way to Bonemass is part of the adventure. If you think that's just all crap and wtf I'd grab some gear and resources and start with the old character on a new seed. But stuff like that is part of the game, so the new seed might have something similar or something else that feels off to you.
