Using Mods..

Hey, so forgive me if this has already been answered, can't seem to find the discussion anywhere if it has.
But I'm still yet to defeat the elder. I'm way over 200 hours in, elders soooo far away from me and I'm beginning to think I'm going to need to cross the ocean to get to it.
Now, the first time I went out on my wee ♥♥♥♥♥♥ raft, I was killed by a sea serpent (just my luck) that literally came out the blue and it was an absolute graft getting my stuff back.
SO, the thought of crossing oceans on said raft (as it's all I can build just now it seems) just IN the HOPE that I'll maybe reach the elder, gives me the fear.

My question is.... If I were to use a mod to atleast, I dunno, unlock the view of the map, are there any known consequences for using these?
Also I fear that using a mod once will just make me want to use others and worried it will ruin things for me, cause I'll be living in fear that I'll lose any progress made using them.

I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO

>The Raft

oh man i don't understand why people think that flimsy excuse of a floater is good for anything other than crossing a river or scouting the coast of the starting island.

If i were you, i would avoid modding and experience the game as it is given it is still in development.

Also yes, you will have to sail but this becomes less intimidating the more you do it.

I downloaded teleport anything through portals mod just after my first sailing experience. Not my kind of option BUT>>>> I finished the game in and around 200 hrs. That's about having many QoL modes and some are made for other mods that make the game far more difficult. :steamhappy: So if you use it for a regular game it's OP. There is one little and hidden annoyance.

Sometimes mods don't play nice with each other. I've had several gaming sessions where half of the time I spent arranging their loading order and lost equipment. So that happens but most of the time it's a lot of fun.

If you've acquired copper and tin then you need to process them with a smelter, you will discover the recipe after getting surtling cores from a burial chamber (tomb/cave) in the Black Forest, once you have ingots smelted you can craft a forge and make bronze ingots and bronze nails from there.
Literally This ^ Traverse the seas with a Karve over a raft until you can make the Longboat

There's also a map generator that uses the code to extrapolate your map from your seed. Do a google search for Valheim map viewer and it should get you there. :)

If you are trying not to alter anything too much and play vanilla, I would explore more and find out if there are any Black Forest biomes that are more accessible, with fine wood, bronze nails, deer hide and resin you can craft a Karve which is considerably faster than the raft and should help you cross the ocean much easier.
